Meteor Shower (Elementalist Staff Skill 5)
I would like to know, if anyone else is having the same problem?
Maybe a Red post just confirming.
My Guild also can’t hear the skill sound, so this might be an importante bug.
Got the same problem … and attenued to fire, glyph of storms doesn’t make sound too …
Meteor Shower is not the only skill that has been muted. Mind Stab and Chaos Storm (Mesmer skills) have also been affected. I don’t know whether there are more skills affected or not. :/
I forwarded this information to the skills and balance team. Thank you and if you come across any other skills that have this issue please speak up

As for the issue with Meteor Shower (and a plethora of other effects) no longer playing their sounds, it is currently fixed internally and should be back to normal on the next release.

Chaos Storm still doesn’t work Any news? Cody plz tell me, I miss these chaotic sounds >.<

We think we know what the remaining problems are with some sounds playing intermittently and expect to have a fix in by the next release.
It seems like Chaos storm “Start sound” works, (when casted and the effect start to show), then after that it’s complete silent.
Edit: Went trough all mesmer skills (utils).
Mesmer:
Blink seems to be affected as well. < Sometimes >
Decoy. No “Blooub” sound like Mirror images.
Mind Stab seems fine to me, Sound depends on the range.
Arcane thievery. (MAY NOT BE BUGGED), no sound when casting, but a small “poof” at end
Mantra of recovery. Sometimes no “Player dialogue when channeling”
Mantra of Pain. Sometimes no “Player dialogue when channeling”
Power spike (Mantra of pain charged). no sound unless you got a target
Mantra of Distraction. Sometimes no “Player dialogue when channeling”
Power Lock (Mantra of Distraction charged). No sound when casting
Mantra of Resolve. Sometimes no “player dialogue when channeling”
Mantra of Concentration. Sometimes no “Player dialogue when channeling”
Asura:
Radiation field. It ever had a sound?
Whirling assault (Power suit). No whirling sound.
Summon D-Series Golem. No summon animation nor sound when it spawns.
Visual effects bug. (Mesmer)
Phantasmal defender. Does not look like a phantasm.
Phantasmal disenchanter. Does not look like a phantasm.
Not a sound bug. (Mesmer)
But when Illusionary swordsman is queued for shatter, it will only shatter once it will attack again. Like this.
Summon I-sword, it attack, I shatter it, but it shatter after it has recharged it’s attack.
Took some time to do this, but this is all skills for mesmer. Hope you can fix these bugs.

After the patch today (27. Aug 13) it still doesn’t work. But I guess it wasn’t that fix patch, was it? Let us know when it is supposed to be fixed, k?

Something similar is going on with the sound in general, because I’ve been noticing that all sound will randomly cut out for random periods of time (generally during combat).
This includes all sound: music, effects, vocals, etc. Hopefully it’ll all be part of the same fix.
I’ve noticed total silence twice as well. (The first time it seems to also have shut down my sound card as afterward i couldn’t hear sound outside the game as well.) Then I got a BSOD which I think was related to being a problem with the sound card.

News? You bet. We’re still working on it. Audio engine bugs are not always as simple to work out, but there are changes coming that should work toward ensuring stability, especially when heavy combat is involved.
I want to mention at this point – I AM glad that you actually wright something It means you’re still there. (unlike other forums *cough*DE*cought*) :P
Also, it’s funny, sometimes the normal (awesome) sound seems to play. But I have no idea when and why. And it’s strange – it never works in Lion Arch. o.O

Occasionally, I’ll see an achievement visual pop up on my UI with no sound, and then as I’m fighting a random mob some time later (5-10 minutes) the sound will play.
So, it may not be an issue with the sound cutting out, but rather an issue with the sounds having a serious delay from when they’re supposed to play.
Don’t know if it’s the same issue with the combat sounds, but maybe the added info will help figure it out.
