Minions just stand and watch rather than fighting as they should. Both when attacking an enemy, and while being attacked they just watch rather than fighting. Sometimes using their skill makes them start attacking, but sometimes it doesn’t.

I quit about a year ago, and just came back recently because I heard they stopped nerfing necros – Last year minions worked, this year they don’t

It’s definitely gotten worse. The flesh golem almost never attacks, an the other melee minions sometimes don’t too. The ranged guys usually attack though.

Unless I’m misremembering, there were supposedly some fixes put in months ago with a patch that claimed to clear up some of the problems. I’ve never seen a difference.

What really irks me about this is that the proper functions are already in the game and working just fine: ranger pets. Necro minions are ranger pets with one difference—they don’t come with a control bar (another peeve of mine, but hey, one gripe at a time).

Strip off the control bar, and you have the same function: attack target I’m attacking, use the same pathing.

Seriously, we’re heading for two YEARS and the devs can’t manage to adapt existing code that already works to fix this completely stupid problem? Devs always crow about wanting to foster diversity, yet a build-screwing problem like this continues to plague the Necro. Mind boggling.

If necro had the same bar that rangers do, with everything functioning correctly, I’d probably only play MM.

Ok… I’m sorry, but this made me laugh. Ranger pets are not ‘working just fine’, although they work better than necro minions. They fixed ranger pets some, but they are still not working properly.

As for this issue… I admit it was actually hilarious (although bad for the necro and I’d have been mad too) because when I killed the poor necro, all his minions stood there and watched… They actually turned to watch but did nothing. This was probably 2 months ago now. But necro minions were not ‘fine’ a year ago either. I disliked them even 18 months ago when someone I knew used them. They need work but it’s tricky because if they worked well Necro mm would be too strong (again) and they would then be nerfed. But they shouldn’t stand there while their master is stabbed with a dagger either…

I forgot to say this before, but I noticed one of the things that has been happening with minions recently is they will stand in one spot (not even follow you) completely frozen. They won’t move or even turn for quite a while. This occasionally happens if you stop and start moving again or if you enter combat. Sometimes it happens with all the minions, other times just a few.

this never happened to my necro before the festival of the four winds patch, but now my minions stand around doing nothing as well. this is especially annoying when flesh golem is your best elite for what you’re doing, and it just stands there, even after being ordered to use its charge.

It started last december, or january .. i think it was with the Marionette patch.

Yeahh .. and still not fixed after all that time

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

The necromancer’s f2-f4 are free buttons for minion control. One way of fixing the frozen minion problem is to make them disappear when out of combat and reappear once entered.

Also…. one thing that makes me believe some seriously stupid people are working for Arenanet is the fact that thief’s guild can now be used underwater while our flesh golems still die with a drop of water.
