It’s gone!

I’m just going through my inventory on October first and…
There is an empty inventory slot where my glory booster sat the day before. I cannot say I used it by accident as there is no buff on an otherwise little-used character I like to check the bank and trade post with. On the tiny chance it’s relevant, I’m talking about a new empty slot in an invisible bag. Can’t find it even with the search bar or by hovering over what I thought was a malfunctioning icon. Nothing else is missing as far as I can tell. I don’t know if more than one instance of it is missing because I only had one (and ergo one stack also, obviously.)

I log in the game at least once a day, and I haven’t had any update issues or anything out of the ordinary lately. I even downloaded an update when logging in around reset time give or take a few minutes. (8:00PM EST) I believe it was still in my inventory as of yesterday, but even if I am mistaken there, I am certain it was there last week when I was talking to my friend about all the items we acquired and collected.

My character carrying the booster has only entered the Heart of the Mists, Lion’s Arch, and Divinity’s Reach in the last year but that that isn’t a reason to have items go poof, right?

I’m hoping that it isn’t some random item disappearing issue, but figured I would post it here in case anybody has input or insight. I’m hoping I missed some information about it in some patch notes.

Don’t those kind of not exist anymore anyway, what with Glory not existing anymore?

Glory was removed in March of 2014. Glory Boosters became obsolete. Even if you still had it, it would be worthless.

Yeah there was some forewarning about this in game. I horded mine and didn’t use them which I regretted because there was no way to use them all with the month or so forewarning we had. But yeah they’re gone. :/

From the OP’s comments, it sounds like he/she might have had them as a collector’s item, and likely knows they aren’t of any actual use. It’s certainly not unprecedented for gamers to collect ingame items that are no longer available or used in the game. I know of quite a few people that do this, and even have a few of such items myself.

Of course, it doesn’t really matter from a functional/gameplay perspective if old and unused items are completely purged from the game’s database. But it seems like a strange use of resources to bother with such a cleanup of a single item.

Yeah, not unusual indeed. Even myself, I still have a few items like stuff from Scarlet events and the battle for LA. I had kept them in hope they could be used in a future trade, but for now they just sit in an alt’s inventory as historic items.
