My party killed the Molten Berserker yesterday, and were instantly killed by the vortex that appears around the arena during the Molten Firestorm battle. This seems a bit unfair, to give no warning, and instantly kill anyone along the outside of the arena. See screenshot.

Please add some sort of a warning, or a way for players to rejoin the battle.

I wouldn’t constitute this as a bug at all. It’s an intended mechanic. You can’t complain about the boss of the Aetherblade TA path electrocuting the floor and giving you no warning. Same rule applies here. live and learn unfortunately

Well the thing is, this happened at the start of the final phase. It’s okay if it happens during the battle, but not just as the new phase starts. Players should have a way to anticipate this, or react to it. Because if they happen to be in the wrong place (which is like 50% of the arena), they are dead, and will remain dead for the rest of the fight.

oh i totally understand what your saying. If you have never done this encounter before it could be a bit annoying especially after how tough it can be to get the Berserker down. After doing this boss in the initial release of the Molten Facility i haven’t had a problem since then with making sure i didn’t get hit by this ability though. Its just one of those mechanics to take note of. This boss is intended to be quite challenging

The swirly winds along the outside? The ones that slowly spin up, giving ample warning of something starting to happen? That slowly push you to the edge of the platform unless you leave them? That, should they knock you off, place you back in the middle in a down state, where your allies can promptly revive you?

Yeah… Ok, not seeing much problem there. There’s plenty of cues, time, and even opportunity to recover after the fact.

The problem how ever, is that there isn’t plenty of time or cues. Several times now I’ve seen that thing NOT spin up, and instantly throw my party over the edge. And today something new happened:

After the Berserker knocked me halfway across the arena, and into the pit, I found myself dead at the bottom for quite a while. Then all of a sudden the game ressed me (maybe it does that at the start of the next phase), but I was still down there. It didn’t teleport me back up. So I was forced to jump into the lava below… after which the game downed me, and teleported me upstairs. But instead of teleporting me into the center of the room, of course it teleported me into the swirly thing, and I was killed (while in my down state). This should be changed:

  • Any player that falls in the pit, is downed, and then teleported to the center of the room, so that ressing is possible.
  • Any player that is down below on one of the pipes when a new phase starts, is automatically teleported upstairs, into the center of the room.
  • There should always be a windup time to the swirl around the edge of the room.
