I just completed 2 JP in Diessa plateau and I didn’t get a single point in monthly jp achievement even thou it only says it has to be discovered, not completed. ( wall one, and one right above it )

Anyone else has this problem?

I will go on and try others, and eventually complete it, but some are just not giving points.

It is working as intended. All you have to do is discover the starting point of the jumping puzzle. Completion is unnecessary.

I just completed the Branded Mine in Fields of Ruin and I only got the actual JP achievement, not the monthly. I think it’s bugged.

Plus how can you get this monthly achievement if you have already finished all the JPs? do you just have to go back to the completed puzzles again? seems a bit silly in my opinion.

You don’t have to reach the chest in a JP to get credit for finding the location (for the monthly)… at least for some of them. I want to say that one or two of the ones I tried didn’t register until I was maybe halfway through the puzzle. Some are reporting getting credit at the start of puzzles. All I can say is that I got credit for all 4 that I tried last night, and only officially finished 2 of them.

Doesn’t mean it’s not bugged, or maybe set too specifically for where you have to be to get credit (overly finnicky about positioning at the entrance maybe). Some official clarification on what is supposed to be required would be nice, if it can be given without “giving away” too much wrt the puzzles.

I am revisiting older jumping puzzles that I have done on my main with a new character, so this character has never done these puzzles before and am not getting credit toward my monthly.

I’ve completed Vexa’s Lab, and Pig Iron Quarry without getting credit. (I got an achievement for Vexa’s Lab).

Vexa’s Lab isn’t a jumping puzzle, it’s a mini-dungeon. Not that that explains why pig iron wouldn’t work for you…

Ah, that makes sense. At Pig Iron I went through and got the chest, killed the boss guy at the end, and even walked around the wooden platforms at the end to try and get it to trigger.

It seems that it’s working for me now that I’m not in Fireheart Rise, so maybe it’s just Pig Iron Quarry that is bugged?

It depends on the JP; they don’t all give credit at the beginning — some do at the end. Of the three LA puzzles:

• Weyandt’s gives credit when you reach the mouth, near the vista (beginning of puzzle).
• Troll’s End gives credit when you jump in the well (beginning of puzzle).
• Urmaug’s gives credit when you get to the chest.

(Testing notes: I kept the monthly achievement screen open, so I could see exactly when/where the “discovery” triggered.)

If you miss the “trigger” point, you won’t get credit (e.g. there’s a way to jump through the Sharkmaw mouth without triggering the JP “discovery”).

On the silver lining: you can repeat the same discovery on the same toon by returning to the trigger point. This works in overflow LA and I believe the reset for same shard is a few hours (but perhaps is 24 hrs). You can also use alts to “discover” the same puzzle.

I suspect this is working as intended, since it’s consistent with all sorts of other mechanics, e.g. carving pumpkins or building snowmen.

No, others are as well. It sounds like the counter triggers at a very specific spot on each puzzle, and if you don’t go through whatever that spot happens to be for whatever reason you don’t get credit.

I’m having this same issue, not only did i “discover” the puzzles i was finding in order to complete the monthly, but i went ahead and completed them all for the chest. However, with both “Branded Mine” and “the Collapsed Observatory,” i did not receive credit for “finding” the puzzles. I also had an issue with “Chaos Crystal Cavern,” where i got to the end and the chest had already been opened, when i had never even been to iron marches on any character, let alone the one i was currently playing on, but that’s a different matter on its own.

It will be nice if someone can tell us how this monthly achiev works … I know it is not problem to get it but it is really pity if i try make jumping puzzle achiev and from 12 achiev which i get only 6 count in for monthly.

For example: Eternal nope, another bg puzzles yes, jumping puzzles near SE one yes second nope, jumping puzzle in LA same.

The WintersDay one did not work for me!!

Branded Mine did not count for me, nor did Conundrum Cubed and Professor Portmatt’s Lab. I was keeping track of the achievement and it did not update.

I got Urmaug’s a short distance into the cave.

if just done 15 puzzles, and only 10 showed up on my achievements. they must be bugged i have completion for every puzzle but 2 of the wvw ones. please fix this it is expencive or time consuming to travel the whole world for this monthly achievement.

Can confirm , still stuck on 19/30 since yesterday , something is wrong

Just done branded mine , never done it or been there before , got the achievement but no monthly update

made two times the same lion arch jp in two days and got 2 points for the monthly

Not sure if this was mentioned before, but the one in the north-west part of Frostgorge doesn’t give credit. Even if you finish it, get the chest, use the goggles and jump off into the water.

If you mean http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shattered_Ice_Ruins it’s untrue I got credit for this one when I passed through the underwater passage leading inside the puzzle area. You don’t have to go up, you don’t have to use the goggles or use the chest, just go to the underwater cave entrance.

A tip to everyone trying for this monthly: don’t use portals

I got the monthly jump credit only when i arrive at the top (where the chest is)
Not at the start (aka platform @ after the mystic portal)

Im pretty sure Spekks lab in caledon forest didnt give me credit until I finished it.

Also the Collapsed Observatory JP in kessex hills didnt give me credit on either discovery or completion.

Buried Archives in straits of devastation, Im unsure if this gave me credit upon discovery or not.

Viziers tower, cant remember.

Thats the ones Ive tried so far. On a bit of a break from gw2 for a week now, but I’ll finish the monthly next week and check more jps.

Spekks lab gives credit once you touch the “asura” floor, not the rocks outside but you don’t have to complete it.

Viziers tower, cant remember.

Visier’s Tower gives credit when you touch the bridge leading to it (first jump)

maybe its me, but I have done 11 of the JPs and I have not attained any of the increases for the monthly unless I have actually completed the JP.

I just completed Collapsed Observatory in Kessex Hills but I received no increased in the Monthly, but I did get the achievement for completing the puzzle, Grendich Gamble in Diessa Plateau gave no credit for completion toward the monthly as well, however it gave me the achievement. I am going to try all the ones in Kryta and actually complete them right now

That is because there are two puzzle achievements to be had at that place. Fawcett’s Bounty and Fawcett’s Revenge.

I already completed this monthly ach, and I can tell you that there were 2 puzzles where I noticed it didn’t work (Branded Mine, for example) – I was checking the ach before and after approaching each puzzle. The rest worked.
If you know where jumping puzzles are, it’s totally do-able. I even did most of the puzzles while there one of the chests gave me a lvl 80 named exotic (I think it was from Morgan’s Leap).

• Fawcett’s Revenge (I don’t really expect this one to give credit, but it is listed in the “jumping puzzles” achievement section, so technically it should; it may have given credit before the first gate – see below for Bounty)

Definitely did not get credit for:

• Collapsed Observatory
• Fawcett’s Bounty (I’m positive the monthly achievement counter did not get updated after the first gate, so if this one was counted, it was before the first gate, and before Fawcett’s Revenge – and in that case Revenge definitely wasn’t counted; my counter was either either at 4 or 5 [*] before entering this area, and it was at 5 after finishing Bounty, so at least one of the two wasn’t counted).

Note that in the ones I got credit, I got it as soon as I started the puzzle. On the observatory I did not get credit even after finishing the puzzle. I didn’t actually “finish” Fawcett’s Revenge again, but I was at the puzzle’s location (you need to go through it to reach Fawcett’s Bounty). I did finish Bounty again.

[*] The reason why I’m not sure if it was at 4 or 5 is that I only remember going to 4 puzzles before that (LA and Queensdale), but I think the counter was at 5 before I went anywhere near Fawcett’s cave. I think this may have been caused by one puzzle (either Troll’s End or Demongrub Pits) being counted twice after going there with two characters on different days. On all the other JPs mentioned above, I’m sure I only went there once, with a single character.

glad to see we are getting feedback, and to reiterate, i am 100% sure that i did not receive credit for “Branded Mine” and “Collapsed Observatory,” as I started the day with 0/10 explorations, and had never even been to the zones that contained those puzzles, so it would not have been possible for me to have gotten credit without knowing.

I would like to add that I understood that we only needed to find the puzzles, and not run them for the monthly, and that I only ran through the entire puzzle to be sure there was not some glitch that didn’t count a puzzle until it was finished, but did not receive credit afterwards either

I tried it myself after reading your post. Sure enough taking the direct entrance it failed to give me credit for it. Then I checked the wiki, found complaints in the discussion tab about the complicated instructions. It turns out that the complicated instructions is exactly what you need to follow in order to get credit for the Collapsed Observatory.

I think for this one they should move the trigger point to where the second ooze is located.

For the monthly, you don’t have to discover 30 unique puzzles — you can repeat the same puzzle on multiple characters or the same character at different times. It could be the case that some puzzles have odd trigger points for getting credit, but even so, it won’t stop anyone from completing the monthly requirement.

It looks like you can get credit for the same puzzle again after each rollover. I guess you could just have one character parked at a particular puzzle and log in once a day.

Confirming that Branded Mine did not count for achievement progress, even after completing it.

The trigger point is not always obvious. You don’t get credit for completion, you get credit for moving your character to the right spot on the map.

i went to the left side of the waterfall/river…was cracking my head in fustration lol…

I completed the Pig Iron Quarry puzzle (looted grand chest at end) and did not receive credit in the jumping puzzle section of my achievements. Discovering the entrance also did not give credit toward my monthly.

I had alot of the JP done before the monthly came out. I only have 7 JP left to do, but for my monthly i need to complete 10? I have revisited some I have done in the past and they are not added into my total. What gives? This is holding me back from my monthly.
