Hey, I’m sorry for the inconvenience gentleman, but I’ve sent some some in-game help requests and since they never got answered, I’ll give it a try here instead.
I was doing my last run of the month in a dungeon and after I completed it and looted the chest, I went to click the chest for the monthly reward.
It notified me of my inventory being full and not being able to store it, so I went to deposit all collectibles and when I went back to the pop up screen to accept it I pressed the destroy items button accidentally.
Alot of hours went into getting that monthly done, and I’m truly sorry for messing up, but if there is any way of verifying this, could you try and send me the reward again?
I’m sorry again for the mess up and seriously hope I can finally get an answer to my issue here.

Regards, Nark

hello there,

i had the same problem with the daily reward: i deleted the karma-flask by mistake, because my inventory was full.

i wrote to the support but they said that its not possible to restore lost/deleted items.

If that’s true then I guess I won’t be going back to playing the game.
Was struggling lately to be able to have enough time to do the monthly and finally managed to find a group who was running some “oldschool” dungeons (because no one ever does them anymore…)
I understand they are busy with the game being new and everything, but these tiny things matter to everyone of us and personally, I don’t think its fair that just because of a stupid reflex I deleted in 1 second what I worked many hours to get.
Doesn’t make the game seem very fair tbh
At least I would suggest adding a confirmation box to it, the same way when you salvage a green soulbound item the game asks if you really want to proceed.
Thank you so much for your response, doesn’t make me very hopeful though…

Hi Nark

I as Skugge said from a support ticket there is no tool that allows ANET to generate items in the live build because of possible security and abuse threats to the overall health of the economy in the game as well as it reduces the amount of tickets that support would recieve if they did have a way to generate items.

You can imagine the amount of false tickets that would be sent if they had this feature and trying to sort the legitiment tickets from the false tickets would be a massive task for any company to undertake.

So basically what you’re saying is because they’re scared of people abusing some tool they wont create it to help the people who truly need? Makes sense… wait… no it doesn’t… 2 words for ya, Albert Einstein.
This game is letting me down over and over again… no defined roles in dungeons, no incentives to actually DO dungeons (not fractals), no dungeon finder, about 3 tickets submitted without response, lag fest in events…. I could go on and on but there is no point wasting any more time with this.
Was a devoted fan since GW1 and always wanted to believe you would at least learn from other MMO’s out there in some aspects to make GW2 an unforgettable experience. Now, practically all you have in game are mindless grinders and bots (which are about same thing if you ask me) and no fun elements besides PvP (yes, I admit, it’s the best PvP experience I’ve had with a game besides LoL).
Keep it going, you already lost all my friends to WoW even with me trying to convince them to stay, and now you lost another client.
Really awesome to leave a person who bought your product and supported it since day one feeling bitter over 1 mouse click and refusing to help.
GG

Wish you the best of luck with this game though, hope from the bottom of my heart it gets better and people start getting some help.

Sincerely,
Nark

If you crash your car on accident should the company give you a new car? If you lost your wallet should the bank give you the money you lost? You made a mistake, you pay for it. Don’t expect people to cater when you make dumb mistakes.
It’s just like any other problem regarding ingame mistakes. Is it Anet’s fault? no. Is it yours? yes. If they would/did refund you then hooray for them! good job. But never expect someone to fix your own mistakes. It’s no one else’s job.

Nark,

You do realize that the other people replying here are players similar to yourself, right? I don’t know why you’re escalating your frustration off of other people’s posts. I can understand that if you were actually having a fruitless back and forth with an ANet rep, but you’re feeding your own unhappiness here. It seems like you’re just threatening to quit unless you get what you want, when you want it, which is a bit unreasonable. It completely negated your valid point, which is that certain items (jugs of karma, etc.) should require a delete confirmation for added protection. Is what happened to you unfortunate? Yes. Is it fair? Fairness has nothing to do with this; you make a mistake and are trying to pass the blame.

When the next MMO is unable to tend to your every need, will you be moving on yet again?

Mate I ain’t threatening to quit, I already did 1 day after the incident. I wrote the followups to express my discontent with the game and to enumerate some reasons that made me give up playing.
Those reasons are not revokable by an eventual recovery of the items, those are statements of what is currently wrong with this game, and they can be used to construct some ideas about what to change.
I’ve played many MMO’s before for several years in a row (how long was it for GW2? 3 months?) and as long as it was a decent community with an eventual effort to fix whatever went wrong, things eventually worked out fine.
I bet you wouldn’t have the same inactivity from the developer team I had, if you reported an event like this in the main MMO competitor for GW2. Look at this post, it’s living proof of it, no response from any1 of the dev team whatsoever, explaining me what can or can’t be done about it, just some players trying to help me out by explaining it can’t be done.
Guild Wars used to make me feel comfortable for many years (4-5), the support for GW1 was not exuberant, but they made clear they were working out on a better project and they wouldn’t be paying attention to the old game anymore… and after years of waiting for this, I find a game that lost alot of relationship it had with the players and turned into something more commercial and detached from the community.
Guess all of this depends on the point of view, but this game lost alot of the place it had in my heart and that’s why I am explaining the reasons that made me quit, because I respect it alot and care enough to explain what we players feel is going wrong with the game.
I ain’t mad about the items, I’m just sad that GW2 wasn’t what I expected it to be.
And that matters 0 for all we know, but maybe someone will make an extra effort for you next time you’re the one being in a pinch.

All the best for everyone. And thank you serenity for taking the time to reply.

First off, this isn’t even a bug so it is in the wrong section.

Mate I ain’t threatening to quit, I already did 1 day after the incident.

Second, not to be rude, but then why are you still here whining about it? They already said there is a policy against restoring lost/deleted items. Plus its only 10 jugs of karma, that isn’t even a lot. Go farm in Cursed Shore for a day and you’ll make quite a bit.

Raging because they won’t return items to you that you may or may not have even had is pointless.

what section should it be then? it’s not an account problem and it’s not a hardware issue for all I know. I made the post where it seemed more logical, soz if I made it in the wrong section.

PS: I’m here because I wanna see how long the dev team actually takes to even acknowledge one issue, as you may have noticed before, it was players only who replied to this post.
And as I said before, it’s not about the items (had most of the karma gear and never used any coins), it’s about sending a message -insert joker picture here- ;)

Sorry man, but as an answer has already been given by Mira, I doubt they will answer. They would just be repeating themselves.

There are several posts about this, that they don’t restore items. So don’t really expect an answer here to be honest. As far as I know, they are more focused atm on restoring accounts thats been compromised than restoring items. Since that doesn’t exist either as of now. So it’s more of a priority issue from A-net atm. One which I agree with.

Nark,

I am sure you are upset with your loss and your accident. Unfortunately the company at this point in time does not have a method of compensating for mistakes such as yours. The only response you will get for similar actions:

*buy with dungeon tokens the wrong armor (ex: heavy for a light user)
*destroy an item that you didn’t mean to destroy
*transmute the wrong skin over the right skin
*buy the wrong item off a karma vendor
*didn’t receive an item from the TP
*lost an item on the TP

Their response has been a consistent: We apologize for the situation but we regret that we do not have a method currently to compensate for your loss. We are working to have this feature in the future.

Yes you can be upset. You have a right to be upset. However at the same time I hope that anger will be offset by realizing you were the one that made the error. So you have a hand in the situation as well.

You can quit that is an option or you can do what several people in the game have done… Move on and enjoy the game. The loss of karma jugs is annoying but you can get those 10 jugs by doing the daily 10 times. If you spend 30 mins in queensdale you can have the daily done.

However if you are done I don’t think any amount of response from Anet is going to be worth your while. Hearing what everyone has already said to you will bring you no more pleasure or satisfaction. Moving on from the incident or the game will bring you much better satisfaction and resolve.

Considering that Windows (the most widely used operating system by far) and many other pieces of software that follow its example, have “Yes” button before “No” button, the GW2 looting dialog is non-intuitive and badly designed from the usability point of view.

“Delete all” is equivalent to “NO, I do not want the items” while “Take all” is equivalent to “YES, I do want the items”. A lot of people have gotten so used to Yes button being before No/Cancel button, that they automatically press the first button when they want to say “Yes”. Because of this accidents like these happen and could be avoided if the “Take all” button was placed before “Delete all” button. Saying that “you should read the question more carefully” does not make a piece of software better quality or enhance the user experience.

This kind of thing should have been realized a lot earlier though, because if the order of buttons was changed now, people who have got used to the “Take all” being the latter button are likely to make the exact same mistake, which would lead to a lot of complaints regarding the change.

The best way to to handle these situations would be to develop a way to restore items/characters, and a way to confirm that the player is actually entitled to them. Being able to save someone’s day by restoring a missing item or a character would have a very positive impact on the image people have of ArenaNet’s customer service and on how much ArenaNet cares about the player satisfaction – and naturally this kind of a thing has a positive impact on the sales also. The reason why this feature has not been implemented yet could be because they have not had time, or the data required by this kind of a feature (records of items, logs of events occurred on game accounts) would require more disk space than they can afford considering the huge amount of Guild Wars 2 players.

and you said exactly what I thought when I accidentally delete the rewards, was automatic instinct to go for the position of “yes” button of Windows.

thank you both for showing some respect, and expressing your opinions aswell.
wish you all the best

Nark,

Everyone agreeing with you is molly-coddling you (love that phrase)

Man up, stop being an absolutely over-entitled tool, you made the mistake, get on with it. People have bigger problems in this game that the devs should prioritise (nevermind IRL where your ‘problem’ is even more laughable).

“i’ve already quit the game due to my mistake but am still spitting my dummy out on the forums”…

Embarassing!

Hi everyone,

Currently there is no way to restore items deleted by accident, sorry.
With that said, and seeing how this thread has run its course, we are closing it.

Thanks for your understanding
