Just recently bought the game. Love just about everything, story, combat, graphics, etc. I am having a major issue with respawn timers. Now, I started a Charr Warrior (L15) and I started to notice around level 8 that the respawn timer on some mobs was completely INSANE. I have ran into about half a dozen different Heart Quests, 1 skill point event and 1 Vista so far in the Charr starting area that the mobs would respawn within seconds of killing them. My biggest trouble was at the Ascalon City Ruins where as I was clearing up to the skill point commune and I couldn’t even kill a mob before everything that I just killed had already respawned. It makes it extremely difficult to achieve any goals this way (took me over 2 hours to finally get it). Now, I am on a quest at the Ruins of Oldgate where I have to watch this dude’s back while he does his thing and when he starts he draws the attention of 4 mobs. IF I manage to survive, I can’t even turn my toon to look at the guy I’m protecting to see if he is still alive before I am being shot in the back by the exact mobs I just killed!

Now, I did manage to try and find if ArenaNet was making any changes to this but the latest date that I saw was 11 months ago. This seems like a fairly common and annoying problem that quite frankly, should have been fixed by now. I get it, you are trying to make the group events harder, but instead of asking players to report where they are having problems, how about actually just going through the whole game and trying to fix it? Yeah, I know, there are a LOT of mobs out there to try and fix but isn’t that what your programmers are getting paid for? You know the group events that you want to make harder for groups, so you also know where people are playing solo and need the respawn timers changed to progress in the game.

Please get this fixed. I don’t want to put this game on the shelf because of a stupid like thing like this but it is undeniably annoying and frustrating.

Well, I don’t know what happened when you were playing, but when I did the event and skill point in question, I had no problem dealing with everyone and finishing the stuff.

Also, forum posts make up only a small percentage of the community. The complaints might be a little less common in proportion to the community as a whole.

This is not a bug. The respawnrate is there to ensure that content keeps to be challenging despite someone just before you doing all the work. The skillpoint in question is indeed challenging, but very much doable. with a longer respawn rate it means that people can just wait outside till someone clears the mobs and then quickly run in. That would be wrong as well. The respawnrate is challenging there, but it is very much doable.

This means you are killing too slowly. This can be cause of several reasons. The first is playstyle. Gear can be an issue as well. Also, you need to make sure you are actually hitting the enemy’s.

Like said, the skillpoint is challenging, but I always managed to do it. I did one time had to skip it to gain 2 more levels before trying again, but thats all.

A game needs challenging content for all players. this means there will be content that is likely too hard for you to do. I can do almost anything in the game, but I had a real issue with the gauntlet during the recent living story. This is however as designed and I just skipped that bit of content.
