I just completed Drysdan’s Event (don’t know the title anymore, but it’s near the Valley of Gwaun POI. He will transform you into one of many forms for the event. During the event if you are transformed and walk away too far from the event you will be automatically transformed back as is with all events that will transform. However if you talk to him once the countdown starts because the event is over, he will still give you the option to transform and if you transform then it will be permanent. It won’t automatically transform you back to your human form once you go too far away. I was able to walk all the way to the Infinite Coil Reactor while being transformed as a Moa.
I don’t think it could really be used as an exploit since human enemies will look non-aggro but once you come near them they will aggro you. It might give you a second of attacks less. In the beginning a normally aggro mob was invulnerable to me because his aggro’d me but his name was still green.
Also you are able to attack a few NPC’s in the area that are normally allies.

EDIT: The form will even stay on you if you WP travel within the same map. Going to the Heart of the Mists will end the form.
