Moved from WF to LA after game network error

I just log into game on guardian parked in Lion’s Arch at Consortium near Junior Brand Manager and pick the daily chest and immediately jumped to Wayfarer Foothills for Frozen Maw which is the daily boss (at least for me). My timer site was saying that event is just roughly 3 minutes behind the schedule and I knew that there’s still a chance I’ll get map where it may still going on and it did. So I parked at spawn, map was showing that Brogun is about to move from his spawn to Frusenfell Creek so I went to the kitchen for tea and some snack which took me less than minute and when I arrived, npc was in half way and game just crashed – players were running in all directions and game was screaming about network error without code – at least I didn’t noticed any. After pressing OK button game restarted itself, I’ve logged in knowing there’s still high chance that I’ll land in same copy of the map but no. Game throw me into Lion’s Arch, at Gendarran Fields entrance. I’ve jumped to Vendrake’s Homestead Waypoint but I was assigned to different map where event was already done.

So why that happened? Is it because event was already done and game wrongly interpret my standing as afking for much longer? Or there was a map/server crash? But if so, why I was placed in LA and not in WF?

It’s coincidence.

One likely scenario is that there were errors before your character left LA. The server and the client were out of synch, just not enough to cause an issue. The datacenter picked up that you left LA and didn’t update you to W/F Hills. On your screen, you successfully navigated to W/F Hills; on the server, you didn’t. So when you crashed, the server didn’t know where to place you — it did the best it could, which was your last known zone, and left you in the default spawn site.

There are several other possible scenarios and they all have the same thing in common: just a coincidence that it happened while you happened to have been AFK.
