It is possible to get multiple (at least 2) log in rewards per day. Have a character logged in right as the day changes (and the box pops up), and dont open the box, instead changing to a different character and logging in with it, and then you will get the next days log in reward box on that character. I submited a bug report in game also.

The first character (that was logged in still) also gets a log in reward forgot to mention that

It’s possible if you logged in the first time since reset right before the next reset. For instance reset for me is 7PM EST. If I didn’t log on yesterday since after 7PM but I log on today at 6:59 PM I will get a chest. Then I get the next chest at 7PM. That’s 2 chests back to back but perfectly normal. If this isn’t what happened then I have no idea.

No its not that, I play everyday. My reset is at 6 pm. So at 5:59pm im logged into character A. It turns 6pm, and i get the daily chest pop-up for day X but I don’t open it. I switch character immediantly and I log onto character B. When Character B logs in, another daily chest pops up but for day X+1. I open that one and when I switch back to the character A, I still have the chest for day X.
