My Armor is Racist
While yes, it is now strongly associated with Nazis, the symbol itself has been around far longer.

This. The symbol is extremely old. Also, it’s mashed into a grouping of other symbols. Really, this isn’t a big deal. At least IMO.
Its a very popular symbol in certain religions, while it may look like the symbol of the Nazis, that one is actually turned by a 45° angle if i’m not mistaking.
Actually it is neither due to the angle of the symbol, for reference on the difference between the Swastika and the nazi symbol

More than meets the eye.

I dont know how its racist, its a symbol of luck and fortune. If the armor gets nerfed I want my 119g + transmutation stones back. The swastikas are the whole reason I even bought the armor.
The old Vikings actually used it on their Runestones here in Scandinavia.
It is highly authentic and not racist in the sligthest.
Do you even lift, bro?
It shouldn’t be there, it’s highly offensive to many people.
ArenaNet SHOULD know better, we ALL know what the swastika stands for.
So don’t give me any of that religeous rubbish.

I find the ridiculously sexualized armor for all female characters offensive but I’m not asking them to change it. Also as stated by others, the swastika originated with the vikings.

I am German and I dont find it offensive. People are overreacting. The finnish airforce is still using the symbol, too. (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lentosotakoulu.svg)
I truly hope this is a joke. The Nazi’s DO NOT hold the patent on the swastika. That symbol is older than even the vikings use of it. It has been a religious symbol long before the Nazi’s use of it. Anyone who says it’s only a racist symbol is as ignorant as the Nazi’s themselves.

Know better about what? Speaking as a Jew myself with family been through a concentration camp, I do not believe reducing the manji to that of the nazis is the proper way to respect the people they violated.
The symbol has been around long before the nazis, and its meaning vastly different.

That’s an urban (?) myth. Swastikas can be facing either way, and both orientations are used in decoration. In fact, the nazis also used both directions (it was mirrored on opposite sides of their naval flags).

Urban myth that they look different ? I dont think you get the idea of my post do you ? Im in no need of a history lesson,i was showing the difference between the 2 symbols for people that think they are the same thing. And showing that what the Op showed is Neither of these eventhough it resembles it Slightly.

I find your statement to be incredibly offensive towards my proud Viking heritage, my good Sir! Not to mention towards a great deal of other people such as Buddhists and other Eastern religions/cultures who have used the Swastika as a religious symbol way before my Viking ancestors.
Do you even lift, bro?
Well I don’t care either way, the armor looks cool as hell, and no one is ever really zooming in that close on my crotch….wait nevermind, that happens all the time. Ummm…. Ah screw it, keep it the way it is. I can see past the Nazi’s and back at a more historical reference for that symbol.

Thank you for your concerns, everyone.
While the decorations on this armor set may resemble swastikas, they are not intended to (note the unbroken rune lines connecting them to the rest of the runes on the armor). As the current design is also small and unobtrusive, we do not have plans to change it at this time.
As this issue has been resolved, I’ll be closing the thread.
