My GW2 broken.
Just a few ideas. You have may tried some of these but a lot are not known except in tech circles. Are your drivers up to date? Firewall on? Then turn off especially norton gives me issues, some other free ones work much better for me. U can allow programs through it though. Are you using windows 8 or 8.1? Both are famous for issues especially on wireless, quick google or youtube search shows just how bad it can be and also a ton of solutions to try. Is your powersave mode on or off b/c off can solve many issues but I have no idea why, just lots of tech experts recommend it and it works.
Ethernet or wireless signal? You can check to see if you’re signal is dropping by running a constant website like google as www.google.com -t (i forget how to bring up the run box but I will look or you can probably google it) If its dropping a lot then its a wireless issue and you may have to call your service provider or change your frequency.
If its overheating that could effect it, I know wow used to have a ton of issues with that with bent and slanted polygons and gw2 is much higher graphics. Maybe a cooling pad could go a long way. If you’re afraid of windows issues check your warranty and/or try a master reset/reboot (back up files on an external hard drive u want to keep) If your cpu or gpu is damaged your probably straight out of luck and there’s a decent chance its that too if your internet is fine. I remember gw1 was very relient on those and i’m really sure gw2 is too. Also gfx card. Almost positive I remember a lot of posts about loading times being based on cpu or gpu and or wireless.
I know I’m not a geek squad expert but I’ve built a few of my own computers and long time nerd and gamer. Sorry if I forget some terms lack of sleep lately from work. Hope some of that helps or at least might get u in the right direction.
@chrono
My drivers are up to date. My firewall is on. I use McAfee, had no problems with it. Im using windows 7. Im using performance mode not power saver. Wireless signal is fine. My computer runs 70~ at the most but averages 40-50 degrees celcius.
also something else i found today is that the random freezing is my ping spiking. What i dont understand is i played both WoW and SWTOR on U.S servers my ping was fine yet there are no oceanic servers in GW2 -im from australia- and apparently it likes giving me horrible ping in Gw2. But only recently, which makes think something is going on at Anets end or i dont know what else…
You may find this informative about GW2 ping:
BTW, the ping number we show in the client on the options screen is probably different than you see in other games. We should name it something different. Traditionally the ping time is the time it takes for a packet to get to a server and back. In our case, it is the time to get to the server, get processed by the game map you are in, and then sent back. So our misnamed “ping” is much more variable than most ping numbers because it includes game processing time.
Thus, the high ‘ping’ number and freezing can be related because of processing.
