Any time I successfully fight to survive death (other than a rally) I get back up like normal, however I cannot cast a single spell, and drop right back dead again in 3 seconds, like clockwork, without even getting hit. Doesn’t matter if there’s no mobs around, clear as day, no lingering dots or anything. Happens every single time. In those 3 seconds sometimes my health will even start to regen as I’m out of battle, and boom right back on the ground.

Permanent problem for weeks now, I just never realized it’s not supposed to be that way.

Silly question…but are you happening to be using the Vapor Form skill while you are down (the one in the 3 slot) coz using this skill is suppose to put you back in a downed state.

Vapor Form - Assume a mobile, vaporous form, returning to a downed state when the effect ends.

Can’t seem to get any help on this anywhere : \

I am having same problem on my elemental

I’m an elemental as well

I can live with bugs, but I can’t live with feeling like I’m not getting any support. Anyone know the best way to get a “it’s a known issue and we’re working on it” at the very least from someone official?

After you survive death, you get the status effect Vengeance: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vengeance

You’re supposed to die after it ends (same skill in GW1 had the same effect).

But as far as I know, it didn’t behave this way in the beta – or maybe you didn’t get Vengeance status before. The wiki says there’s a chance that this effect gets removed after you kill a foe, so maybe the probability of this has been adjusted.

Yeah Fatty, Vengeance is the Warrior skill, i believe Vapor Form is the elementalist version, the profession Ulrich was needing assistance on.

I was told that when people fought to survive successfully, they get to play like normal.

I get to do nothing but drop dead guaranteed minus a rally. Did I hear wrong?

Ah, I didn’t realize Vengeance is one of the skills you choose for surviving – thought it happened every time (button mashing ftw). Learning something new! It seems only ele and war have this type of skill. Thanks for the info!

Can’t blame me for assuming people are pricks on message boards, I came here under the same assumption

list of all the “downed skills” for all professions. Certain skills either return you to a downed state or kills you after its effect is over.

Since you automatically die guaranteed, why would it even be in the game?

I guess so you can run for 3 seconds to maybe get a poi?

coz it can give you a slight advantage for a short time, i don’t play elementalist but i presume the Vapor Form skill allows you to escape so you can rally somewhere else from your downed state without the constant attacks.

as with Vengeance skill on warriors, this brings you out of a downed state immediately giving you time to finish off your opponent, at the cost of dying after you have done so.

and its ok lol, forums can be a mad place at times, its easy to misunderstand others, i’ve done it myself :-)

No, you get no advantage, you can’t cast a thing, you just automatically die in 3 seconds, there’s no advantage except minus the ability to run for 3 seconds before you die.

To me, it’s like “click here to die automatically” The only use is if you were an iota away from a poi
