Guild Wars 2

I could be missing something, but this seems like a bug to me. I first noticed this several days ago when I was trying to kill a veteran in Malchor’s Leap near a skill point. Though I had just done the same skill point with my mesmer, I just couldn’t do enough damage to defeat the veteran. I just moved onto something else that day.
I was clearing the map in Mount Maelstrom today and though he’s at level 80, the regular enemies were just going down really slow.
Eventually I noticed that the on-screen damage numbers weren’t matching the numbers in the combat log in the chat window. Where the on-screen damage would indicate I was doing 100-800 damage per hit, the combat log was rarely exceeding 100.
I thought that I might not understand how the two displays work, so I switched to my thief in Iron Marches. I auto-attacked an enemy and watched both numbers and they matched.

Am I missing something? Any ideas on something I can try?

Posting a screenshot (where you can see the combat log and some numbers on the screen) would probably get the developers’ attention faster.

The on screen number shows the total damage for the skill while the combat log shows the damage for each single attack.
43+43+76+86 = 248
You could try a skill that is not channelled with your ele just to make sure.

I might ask about the weapon being used. Oh, PikeBishop has probably looked it over, but sometimes the answers are really simple
