Mystic Forge Conduit crapping out

I use the conduit dozens of times a day and never seen anything like that. The closest is when I accidentally drag the fourth item to swap it with something else; that will disable the moved #4 (in effect: the UI hasn’t caught up with your swap). It can be fixed by deselecting any of the first three and reselecting or starting from scratch. This can happen with the regular forge, too — in fact, there is literally no difference: both the conduit and the forge (whether in LA, home BL, Royal Terrace, or the Heirship) bring up the same interface.
tl;dr it’s more likely something that you are doing rather than something with the forge and it’s almost certainly nothing to do with the conduit
Barring the above advice, you may have a corrupted file(s). You can find the instructions for -repairing the client via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Search – Repair’.
Good luck.
I’m suspecting it’s a corrupted file, then. Because it certainly isn’t something I’m doing. I’m doing the exact same thing time and time again. Sometimes it works.. and sometimes it doesn’t. When it doesn’t, the only fix is to rezone. It’s never happened on any of the stationary forges.. only the portable one. So I submit they aren’t exactly the same.. something’s different.

Except that those of us who use both or just the conduit aren’t seeing the same symptoms as you are. So isn’t it possible that there’s something you are doing differently, by accident, that just happens to be noticeable more often with the conduit?

And did you -repair the client to fix said suspected corrupted file? What were the results?
