Happened to me once, based on the nature of the mystic forge, I think it is intended. (See the RP at the npc just outside of it)

I put 4 level 50 green Earrings in the Mystic Forge and the machine ate my money. It took my Earrings and did not give anything back. Is this a bug or is it working as intended?
