I just threw 4 rare daggers into the forge, one of them was a Sentinel dagger and I received a mace.

I think the Mystic Forge may be reading Sentinel gear as a random weapon?

4 of a kind can still output any random weapon type.

Never happened to me. As far as I knew, 4 of a type get out as 1 of that type…

I’ve never heard of four of the same item giving a random. Every report I’ve tracked down, it turned out the person wasn’t sure if they accidentally tossed in something else. (If the inscriptions end up cheap enough, I might try experimenting to confirm the OP’s report.)
