I created a new guild and spent the gold to buy influence and speed up the build times so that I could have extra storage space for myself. As the creator and owner of that new guild I still have to wait 72 hours to use it. Why is that? I wasted the gold and influence to speed up the build times when I couldn’t access it anyway.

I understand the change that made the guild bank inaccessible to new members for 72 hours and I agree with it, but why does it apply to the person who created it when they are the only member?

Because that is not the purpose of guilds, a situation like yours is marginal, and it does not justify changing the mechanism.
You’ll have to suck it up and wait.

It doesn’t matter why I created the guild, so that has no relevance, I may and probably will recruit members at some point. The point being is that even though I know the requirements and restrictions to new guild members, there is nothing that warns a new guild creator that he can not even access his own guild bank for 72 hours. I’m not crying over it and have no intentions of looking for any refunds. I am just wondering if it is a bug and that maybe a note needs to be added to the guild creation screen to let people know not to waste influence on certain thing that are pointless.

A bug is a feature not working as intended by design. It’s working perfectly. This time barrier was a meditated decission, and a situation like yours is unlikely to justify a change there.
