[New Patch]No field in new Currency Exchange.
Yes, the problem as of now is, if you have any odd number of gems, you are currently unable to fill this up to the price of your next purchase. The odd number of gems is lost due to this. Very unsatisfying.
Just submit a support ticket to have the exact amount you desire exchanged (or part of an exchange refunded) by the support staff. This is currently the only way to deal with this bug.
Can we please just get the old exchange back? This new format is pretty… For a lack of better words: stupid.
The return of a way to buy a user specified amount of gems or gold would be appreciated.
It’s not a bug. It’s purposeful. You can read the Dev responses about this issue in General Discussion here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Lets-talk-about-the-new-Gem-conversion/page/8#post4503716
Well, it’s seems that’s how they do stuff now… It’s like “we thought the currency exchange was too confused for you to deal with, let’s us pick up a value for you.”
Again, streamlining or simplifying thingsdoesn’t mean dumbing down stuff, that’s insulting… -_-
I’d still call it a bug. Certainly bugs me and others.
Just because it was designed this way doesn’t mean it doesn’t need a major change.
Sorrow’s Furnace
The custom exchange was great! I thought it was a really nice touch in a game like this. Sad to see it go but i understand that the new ui with pre-determined amounts might work better for the devs because it tempts players with lower gold funds to inject real money into the game.
The only real complaint that I have is that the 400 gem minimum is a little insulting. I would much prefer to see a lower minimum of say 150 or 200 gems.
With the variety of ways to spend funds in this game, I can’t be the only one to find it hard to save 76 gold! Lol
Please consider a lower minimum.
Bring custom exchange back. Sometimes I need 600 gems for example. I hope its a bug, because at gold exchange there is 1 gem option..
Seems a bit contradictory to me. They made the change to help new players yet new players are the ones least likely to the amount of gold needed for a minimum gem purchase.
As far as I’m concerned, the only thing that needed to change was the way the UI worked. They had you specify the amount of gold you wanted to spend, and then it would tell you how many gems that would give you in return. It was always silly you weren’t able to simply specify a certain number of gems and have it tell you what the gold cost for that amount was. They did have the exchange rates posted, but it put unnecessary tedium onto the user’s lap.
Now they have changed the UI so it does just that, but now they’ve taken away the functionality to specify any amount other than fixed intervals. I can’t really understand what the reasoning for this is unless there’s some kind of secret internal reason, like some kind of exploit that needed covering up or something.
I can understand why a company would set up a real-virtual money exchange at fixed intervals, even if it can be used in anti-consumer fashions. But extending this to virtual-virtual currency under the banner of “ease and simplicity” smacks of execu-speak. I simply can’t see the logic behind, and would much prefer they revert to a system similar to the old system, except that you can specify the quantity of gems you want to purchase instead of having to offer up a certain amount of gold and be told how many gems you’ll get back.
