I downloaded the game on my Macbook about 4 months ago, paid for HoT, and everything has been fine, until they recently made numerous updates and released several new builds on the same night about a week ago (or whenever that was when they updated PvP and WvW and everything).

Now the game crashes my whole computer constantly. I have reinstalled the game twice. I have searched the internet and done every fix I can find. I often have to waste at least a half hour, in not HOURS trying to get the game to work right. Crashes like crazy. I have to go in, use the Disk Utility to make repairs, then use the Library to delete the GW2 folder. I have even used the repair command in the Terminal, and nothing works for very long.

Today, I went to open the game client, and there was a new build again, so I thought, “great, hopefully it will fix whatever is going on” but NOPE. Instead, I couldn’t even get the new update to download because even having the client open causes an entire system crash consistently now. Thanks for the “updates” but you’ve effectively ruined the game for me. It worked just fine for months, so I don’t believe the error is on my end. It was working perfectly until that night recently when they released numerous new builds.

I’m just curious if a fix is in the works for Mac users?

I made this post, then went to the Apple store today and learned something valuable. The problem was not with the game, necessarily. It turns out that the computer I had was made during a time in which the video cards were known to have issues. After visiting their “genius bar” I now have rid myself of my old setup, and they replaced it with a newer, larger, better system. I couldn’t have asked or even hoped for more, and I am currently setting up the game to run on my new system. I am greatly looking forward to seeing what the game looks like on full settings across this massive 27 inch screen.

I apologize for the mixup, but apparently the issue was on my end, so if you are having trouble with your Mac, try visiting the genius bar and have them diagnose it for you.

They just realized a test version of the new Mac client today, too! So you can also see if that helps you out. It’s 64-bit so it should have less out-of-memory crashes. Good luck!

It turns out I spoke too soon. My mac is brand new and amazing, yet the game crashes constantly. Its not as bad as it was on my macbook because now only the client crashes, and not the whole computer, but the game us UNPLAYABLE right now because it simply crashes like crazy. I login, and it crashes within seconds now.

Is this with the 64-bit test client?

Ran the new Mac client on a 2016 MacBook Pro for about 2 hours. Looks better, launches faster and no problems so far. !!!

Thank you for your response, Jon. I just now heard about the new 64-bit client, and I just took a moment to download it. Crossing my fingers, as I am about to boot it up. I will post any further updates I have experienced in the feedback thread for the new 64 bit client.
