Yep I ve got that too. When i logged in on character, which i didn’t visit today i got extra dayli chest. First i tought its just achivements for dayli reset, but when i opened it i got an extra item, for next day.
I used 2 characters prior to patch, neither received the daily chest but all the others (that hadn’t been used) DID receive a chest each upon log in with them.
tested this too on a few chars – opened a few but gonna leave the rest – it’s funny but it’s obviously a bug so better not exploit it.

If you have more than 4 (or was it 5?) characters, you will get the reward from the chest if you want it or not. It won’t stack chests perpetually… I opened my daily I should have gotten and accidentally one of the others, but I won’t let such a silly mistake on ANet’s side disrupt my daily JP routine…
Tell me about it. I opened a few then realised it was a bug and stopped… but I quite like playing sPvP on multiple chars and I keep getting dailies complete. Sigh.
I tried doing this via PM to keep from telling forum goers about it, but someone beat me to it in starting this thread. I’d have likely commented earlier, but have only just now been able to log in. I have three characters that have not collected a bonus bag, and I have no intention of doing so unless told by a dev that it’s ok.

Each character can collect the daily events and login reward. I completed the daily with my first character and then switched to a different character to do my daily damask/etc. crafting, only to have my daily events reset and to receive the next day’s daily log in. I switched to a third character to confirm the exploit, and once again got the next day’s login, for three days on my daily check in. I have not done this with any other character and understand if you remove the extra laurels and mystic coins from my account. I didn’t want to post this in the open forum, as that would lead to a rush to exploit the bug while it still exists.
It’s way worse then this. Even home instance is reset. Not gonna farm it, (clearly exploit). At first I thought it’s graphical bug (all the nodes still alive, but not farmable), tested on one and it is. This should be hotfixed.

I can confirm this as I log in multiple chars a day to do dailies and pick up JP chests, got 5 and then logged a bug report. Also the daily achievement rewards are resetting for each new character, discovered this whilst doing the pvp dailies and got a repeat award for taking a control point. Stopped logging in new characters at this point and relogged an old character and thankfully the daily achievements were gone and no daily reward progression.
Also want to add that switching back to characters who have gotten the daily do not receive another chest. I got suspicious that this was making the characters all on a separate account sort of like beta, but that is not the case. Seems like only daily chests are linked to each character now.
Really, all you are doing is pushing your monthly up by X amount of days, as many as you got characters. Some people with a ton of characters get alot of bags, others get quite few. You cant repeat it, or create new characters for it afaik. All Anet need to do is fix it.
I would be more afraid not to open them, if I recall correctly the last time it bugged out you had to open them or it wouldnt appear the next day because you hadnt opened the previous day (which was now of course no longer possible to open).
I logged in on a bunch of characters to do my daily gathering and I think I by accident opened 1 or 2 chests too much because I thought that I just forgot to grab the login the first time.
I realized that that wasn’t the case and sent in a bug report. Which I think as many as possible should do. But after sending it I opened another chest just by pure accident and reflexes.. Omg this is so bad.
I have sooo many toons and wanna do my gathering and PvP but I’m too scared to even log into any more characters and now I even have 2 daily chests pending because I swapped to a new character.
Seriously considering putting a post-it on my screen to cover it up so I don’t slip again..
Arenanet PLEASE hotfix this! I basically can’t play right now because I’m scared and don’t want further pending chests. :’(
Opened the second one on another char unknowingly and realised its a bug when I mentioned it to the guildies. I’ve deleted the rewards I got from the second chest so hopefully it won’t cause any exploit issues.
Same here, logged into 3 different characters and now Im afraid to get banned for this. Would like to know if hardcore exploiters will be punished along with those who accidently opened more than just 1 chest.
Character that had logged in prior to patch do not get a new daily or login reward.
Characters that logged in after patch reset the daily and get a new login reward.
If you log in on character1 then do daily, then log in on character2, you get to complete another daily(it resets again). You then complete that daily and log in on character3, you re-reset it. And so on.
If you log in on character1-5 without completing the daily, then do that daily, you will not get any extra dailies by swapping to character1-5 again(because it counts as you skipped the daily).
You do get login rewards for all of them though.
And yes, you do get Spirit Shards and 10AP each time you re-complete the daily.
I am not testing this any further because this is an exploit.
Logged in, got my daily login reward chest. An hour later went to switch character to progress her story, see another login reward chest. Got confused, then looked in the forums. Saw this thread, was like “Nooooope” and reported it in-game straight way. Didn’t even take the goods from the second login chest.
Hopefully this will be fixed soon, I always get concerned when I see an exploitable bug. Keep thinking I will get wrongly accused of exploiting it when I didn’t >_< (I am a very paranoid person)…
Same here. When I logged into a second toon and saw the daily chest again, I started asking in map chat and then saw these forums discussions and realized what I’d seen wasn’t just happening to me. I didn’t log into any further characters because I don’t want to be flagged for abuse. I hate avoiding my toons I want to play though.
same here .. i didnt realize that until I logged on 3rd char .. then tried 4th and 5th.. looks like bug which unlocks next daily with character used 1time that day after patch .. there is not even option in support bug report
it also resets daily progression on that character
edit2 : it also resets daily on character which had already some daily progress and received daily reward but also it opens new daily reward
I also confirm the daily reward and achievements reset.
Did not test the time gated crafting mats or the home instance.
Thank you for disabling the character creation for the time being.
Logged in with three characters, opened three chests and then realised it was a bug. Could not report the bug in game because there is no Area/Subarea applicable. I have got some extra laurels and mystic coins from the bug: I even have hundreds of them that I don’t use! I really hope they do not massive ban everyone for this, just rollback the extra daily chests.
On a side note : if you redo a wold boss that you already did before the patch, still with the same character, then you do get the daily bonus reward (small chest, bottom right of your screen) but not the big chest on the ground (that reset is quite weird)
Hello. I noticed this too, sent a report straight away and admittedly I was too tempted and opened it on all my characters (Now I am officially an exploiter, buuuuuuh), please just roll-back my account or something… ^^;

I checked the home instance and can confirm the nodes are resetting. It seems the daily reset for account daily activities is resetting for each individual character.

I had the same. I only took the bags for 3 extra and only opened one of them. I doubt they will ban for this; it was their mistake. But, once we realized it, then it’s at least a suspend, I would think.
Hopefully, ANet will make a call and let us know. I hate to destroy a laurel bag, not knowing if I will get it again or if the list is permanently stuck 3 ahead of where it is supposed to be.
Gah! I opened a few too! I thought it might’ve just been a feature with that update that happened today. After talking to a few friends though, I kind of wish I hadn’t opened them. I don’t wanna get banned for something lame like that.
Yeah…i noticed it in game and tested after I thought I had already received. Reported via in game ticket. Maybe they take everything back which is fine with me but the fear is some have created characters, I assume, to exploit and the ban hammer cometh? Anywho, I am sure they will have an update soon to correct and whether they take mine and all of you here stuffs back is up to them. The honest people have nothing to fear but it is those who continue to exploit it that may receive some punishment.
