Not Dropping Out of Combat
Yes, this has been happening to me since the most recent patch, 60% of the time I will get stuck in combat even after killing the mobs I have tagged.
Edit: This has happened in multiple zones too, as I have been doing world completion for days. BTW I am an ele.

You’re not alone. My cousin is experiencing the same problem pretty often. It happens now and then with me as well, but far from as often as is occurs on his end.
Hmm I think I’ve had this happen to me a few times too.
After I’ve killed a mob and there’s not another one nearby and none aggro’d to me, the game would behave as if I were still in combat.
Usually if I can get far enough away from the combat location, the aggro will finally release and I’ll start recharging.
Bugger. Well if it’s happening to multiples, it is likely game software or at the very least game software/personal software combined.
Hope there is a fix.
This happened before the patch, too; I haven’t seen it since the patch, so I think it’s situational. I think sometimes there is a nearby creature holding aggro, but they are out of the line-of-sight. This shouldn’t happen, but you can try these work-arounds:
- Swap weapons, attunements (eles), kits (engineers).
- Change to town clothes and back.
- Target a “critter” (e.g. a rabbit) and attack/kill.
- Change the auto-attack skill to one that requires a target within Line-of-Sight (and switch it back).
- Jump in the water (or out of it), if possible.
- Log out ([F12]) and restart the same toon (no need to close the client or switch toons).
- And obviously, move farther away (this one isn’t practical sometimes, if there are nearby foes or you are trying for a vista or jumping puzzle).
I think I’ve run into this a half-dozen times and only once did I need to resort to the logout version (for a jumping puzzle); I needed to swap skills and couldn’t because a nearby foe thought I still wanted to fight).
I have noticed this off and on, and it is a bummer, because your health doesn’t refill and you can’t jump worth a darn. And on cursed, my body glows majestically lol…
I haven’t noticed a real increase in how often this happens to me. It mostly occurs if I skip a mob, then get uphill from them in some way.
Happens often with vistas on krait towers, the vista inside the dredge mine in Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Tribulation Rift isn’t as bad), and jumping puzzles like the Shattered Ice Ruins.
Feels almost like the Z axis is not being taken into account for measuring mob aggro distance in those certain areas.
