My elementalist is not receiving hero points when he levels. I can’t upgrade any of my skills

You don’t receive hero points from leveling. You must complete the hero challenges scattered throughout Central Tyria and the new Maguuma Falls maps in the HoT expansion.

Central Tyria hero challenges are worth 1 hero point. The new HoT challenges are worth 10 points.

There are hero points from leveling however you don’t get them each level. You can find a lot of hero points on the various maps doing challenges and finding places of power.
The level points are every odd Level.

I apologize for the misinformation. I was thinking the OP was talking about leveling rewards after hitting 80. In the old days, you would earn a skill point for each level after 80.

It is a common misconception for players familiar with the old system.

ChrisFireFox is absolutely correct. Hero points are rewarded on every odd level. It looks like this starts at level 11. You earn additional points by completing hero challenges scattered throughout the maps.

Leveling a character to 80 will provide enough points to unlock everything except the new elite specializations. For those you will need to earn the hero challenges throughout the maps.

You can also buy them using the Proofs of Heroics earned in WvW.

Just to revive this thread a bit. . .

My elementalist is level 31. He has not gotten any hero points for the last 5 levels. On top of that, the list of upcoming rewards shows +2 hero points at level 55.

I think we should be getting hero points a lot more often than that.

is this an old character? as in created before the trait change before HoT? if it is it would have been grandfathered into the system, and given traits. this gave characters more traits than they would have had points, and so there was a period of levelling where characters didn’t get any points (until the backlog was cleared)

Yeah this is an old character, however, not sure I got so many points that I won’t get any more till level 55 and then only +2.

If what you say is true, I am not sure I like their solution. At this point character progression seems like a slog and it takes a long time to do enough hero challenges to feel like I am making progress. I would rather have had a respect, have my character take some steps back with traits, and then get my points normally. That way, I feel like I am actually progressing every other level or so.

Currently I do not feel like I am progressing at all and the bad news is, I will feel like this till level 55!

Why dont you eat 30 tomes and not feel like that at all mate
