I had unthinkingly destroyed my warbler on the mission “In Their Footsteps”, and now I can’t progress. I can’t even restart the mission, I guess I won’t be beating Heart of Thorns on this character?

Have you tried joining another player’s instance, and accepting progress? Maybe that would work for you.

I was doing the same instance with my friend. I coudln’t speak to his npcs. :c

Well, you may not need to speak to the NPCs, if you can accept the Story step’s progress.

If not, perhaps contacting the CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Request’ for assistance may prove helpful. (They may be able to send your character another.)

Can’t you use the story journal to re-select the mission that gives you the warbler and just do it again?
