Additionally when the event doesn’t stall the event notification about the event being up(everything including the UI bit in the top right corner and the event circle on the map) doesn’t always show up.

Any word on also looking into the Dredge Commissar chain in Dredgehaunt Cliffs?
From my observations, the most common cause of the stall with that chain is the Fridgardr Lodge event not resetting properly – Dredge spawn and invade the camp, but the event never actually begins.
The event there and at Firebase Molensk appear to be two pre-events that need to be cleared as spawn conditions for Dredge Commissar. Of course, when the Fridgardr Lodge event never starts, these conditions can’t be met and the Commissar never spawns.

I’ll have Dredge Commissar looked at as well. It’s still best to report issues in separate threads for extra visibility.
\o/ These two chains have been buggy for so long. I’m glad it’s getting some attention now. It’s been especially frustrating the last few weeks when stalled maps are active for several days, and the new map closure system keeps the closing fresh unbugged maps.

Thank you for the update, Lauren. Those two event chains have been bothering us players for months now.
Can I also point you in the direction of the Dobbs event in Timberline Falls, Riagan’s event in Bloodtide Coast, and the one in Cursed Shore that are needed for the collections? They should have their own threads in the Bugs forum already, so this is just a heads-up.
Oh! And the Devouring the Brand meta-event in Iron Marches is frequently bugged too, which blocks players from acquiring a trait.

Has a long list of the problems with this event chain.
I would think this could be fixed using the megaserver system itself, once a day open a new map and flag it as the primary map, so the bugged maps get closed.

That would hardly be a fix. That is an attempt to sweep the problem under the rug.
1) new instance created
2) bugs out on first run
3) now it’s broken for the rest of the day, no better than not doing anything

I agree it’s frustrating and that these two things are surely long overdue for fixing but sadly these things can happen often enough in large systems…and sometimes no matter how good your coding practices and such are, some bugs can be really hard to replicate or find causes for. Be it due to past screw ups having left a legacy or simply overlooking a slight detail that is important regarding how two things interact with one another or who knows what else.

That explains why there are bugs but not why things were added to known to be broken content. It’s not like any of the bugs affecting this chain is recent.
Bump! These still bug out all the time. Ogre wars has been bugged since release.
Also the name “Ogre Gate” is spelled “Oger Gate”
I cant tell you how many times this has bugged out on me, incredibly frustrating, after what seems 100 reports, they finally looking into it lol, better late then never I guess. More urgency to fix it now since its tied to a trait unlock.
On a side note, last time it bugged on me Captain Gregory got stuck halfway to the ogre camp and could not trigger the pre event to destroy the huts/pet houses. Hope this helps.

I havnt seen anyy in game progress. the only way this can be done is only when a new overflow map is created allowing for fresh events to start.

The Ogre Wars and Dredge Commissar Meta Events have been working smoothly since the November 4th patch.
Now if you cold just arrange to put an Exotic Sam and Commissar’s Manifesto in the chests for me I would be a very satisfied Tyrian.
Sigh… it seems I jinxed the events. Both Ogre Wars and the Dredge Commissar events are stalled again.
Ogre Wars is stuck at the message “Charr and Vanguard forces are assaulting Foulbear Kraal”. I did find the dead bodies of Captain Gregory and Scout Finley inside the Kraal. I revived them but the event did not restart. Last night I also saw the npc Maybri inside the Kraal but she was unresponsive to my request to start the assault.
The Dredge Commissar event seems to be stalled on Dredge and Priory competing for the central camps. I found Dredge occupying Fridgardr Lodge and killed them but they kept respawning and there was no event available that would have the Priory retake the camp.
Please fix these events so we can return to our quest for the Treasure Hunter achievement.

It maybe a good idea, just to recreate the Meta Chain from the beginning. This Meta Event, Ogre Wars, has been having problems since 2012.
If this hasn’t been fixed in eight months and other events are _also broken in all the maps_ , how can we ever get the attention of those who told us “we’re looking at it” and then NEVER return here to explain OR tell us it’s fixed?
This is totally ridiculous and not a good business practice at all.
Just try to do a daily on some maps… it’s a lifetime job.

Likely, they are working on it by attempting to retain the chain and the root cause is turning out to be elusive or a fix causes issues elsewhere. Likely, they aren’t updating us because there is no one who works at ANet who has work time set aside to update us about bugs. (It’s a more difficult task than most people imagine and not every skilled developer is skilled at communicating with the public.)
So whether they care or not, I don’t expect them to update us unless they have good news.
(Mind you: I’m equally annoyed that they haven’t dropped the idea of fixing the chain and decided to make Sam available elsewhere — I don’t really understand how they can allow collection acquisition to remain bugged, especially for an event that is difficult to farm even if working perfectly.)
In all honesty, this event chain has been bugged for years. A better solution would probably be to recreate the chain from the ground up. Or make a new simpler event chain but everyone is mostly working on HoT now ><.
Ogre Wars Event is Buggy on so many times at megaserver maps … in GW2-Forums search i find not many entrys but if look at Google search i find very many entries and Reports for this Event and nothing resolving. Most of all the restart of the Event do not go. Reason unknown.

Once the event gets fixed, that may help a bit with the cost and availability of Sam.
But what about those bugged fine trinkets that have been dropping since around the removal of MF from gear?
For example, Ogre Wars has a chance to drop Sam. Sam has assassin stats (Pre,Pow,Fer).
But you may also get a fine version that has a single stat combination. Condition damage. It’s not an fine version with assassin stats, but Malign stats.
Condition damage used to be called ‘Malice’. So those fine trinkets are dropping with Malice. That makes every single time one of those drop feel like I’m being trolled by someone who maliciously did that with malign malice… of malice.
I even considered that maybe there was some recipe to turn the fine one into the exotic one. But I could find no recipe that could match to do that, nor any mention of anyone else who may have found or or even tried. Most people would agree that they not dropping at all would be better than getting one of those instead the exotic version. So what could the purpose of the fine ones with stats that do not make sense other than frustrating and disheartening players?
So is there any chance for a fix for that ever coming too?
Personally, I would prefer if they were like this:
- The fine version would have the same stat combination as the exotic trinket.
- There would also masterwork and rare version, also matching the stats.
- There would mystic forge recipes to turn each quality into the next. Fine+stuff→Master+Stuff→Rare+Stuff→Exotic.
- And putting one of each rarity in the mystic forge (fine+master+rare+exotic) would get you the Ascended version, and the ascended is the one that would used in Treasure Hunter (people who already got the entry with an exotic would not lose it, tho).
Then no matter which one you get, it will always have kittene and you’ll be happy about it.

When I ran across him last night, he was a merchant. So either he’s fixed or his bugging out isn’t 100%
bugged at both sets of npcs repeating their dialogue about killing the guard leader/defensive leader, after both the weapon master and trainer died.

Issue not resolved. Ogre Wars currently stalled on 64.25.38.135. Actions taken that led to bugging the map:
- Bloodgorge Watch Camp controlled
- Sapper’s Delve in defense
- Sapper’s Delve defended successfully, chain started with Finley
- As escort with Finley occuring, Bloodgorge Watch Camp went into defense
- Weapon champions spawned and killed
- House part never started
- Bloodgorge Watch Camp defense successful
- Spoke with Maybri, escorted to spot
- Stuck with house part not beginning with both NPCs just standing around
It’s been 3 years, please don’t make it another 3 years before this is resolved.

Confirming that ip 64.25.38.135:0 has been stuck for at least 5 hours. See above for the chain of events that led to it.
Here are things that have happened/not happened because of it:
No defense events at Sappers or Bloodgorge in 3 hours I was on that map
Maybri and the two unnamed NPCs vanished at some point during the double champ event, now only Slashclaw remains and she is basically unkillable (not invuln, just regens/heals REALLY fast)
Gregory’s team is in place, and he is also unkillable (see above), but Finley and the two/three npcs in there too can die and be revived.
All the npcs listed are just standing there, Slashclaw and Gregory saying their lines but not moving. Gregory is even outside the kraal while Slashclaw is at the mortar spot.
All events leading up to Ogre Wars, and possible reset spots, are frozen.
Will edit if I remember any more of the details I also submitted as in game bug reports.
ETA: From a person who was there when it bugged, none of the npcs died during the assaults (though Finley’s group has since, and been revived, repeatedly)
Wasn’t there at .135 but a guild mate was and said someone started human side (humans messing stuff up go figure) while char defense was going. Maybri got stuck at the trees waiting on the house step while Gregory was running amok still yelling things.
Was out there around 3pm pst. and it is still exactly like Mikah posted above; with Slashclaw not dying and Finley standing about with some generic soldiers. Did not see Gregory around though.
Can confirm that 64.25.38.135:0 is still stuck at 6:17pm EST. The charr legionnaire is just happily killing ogres that come to her by the trees but the event never proceeds. The human npcs just stand around talking about taking out leader 2 while the charr asks you to kill leader 1. Can’t even log and relog into a new instance so unable to do the event at all now.
When the event gets stuck before the houses, it’s often because there’s a defeated NPC. Reviving them starts the next event.
This means that when the previous event ends, those NPCs should automatically revive, become neutral so they don’t get attacked anymore, and run to the location as always; or that the escort event should come back, telling players to revive those NPCs and escort the to the ogre village.
Ogre wars seems to have been busted for possibly 12 hrs now, would be nice if this event chain continuously worked versus constantly breaking.
