Huntser – Ranger
Jayce Of Piltover – Warrior
I’ve noticed recently that the IoJ ori nodes in Malchors Leap/Southsun Cove have been changing at least once per 24 hours if not more in which the most was 3 times in a 24 hours period(by accounts of guild members/RL friends compared to my mappings).
This started with the last patch and I was wondering if it was a stealth implementation to deter ori farmers(bots, not people that actually run around and get them) or if it is a legitimate bug with the servers setup since before they would stay at the same location between patches.
any anet employees/devs have any idea about this?
Someone in another thread reported that Malchor’s Leap has been crashing a lot on their server. That would result in the node movements you are seeing. As for how a player would know the zone crashed. If you are playing when it happens you would be kicked out and probably won’t be able to get back in for a bit.
That sort of change would not affect bots much.
I cant imagine the load for malchors leap/southsun cove being so immense that they crash multiple times a day. At least not on IOJ but maybe I’m wrong since I’m not always on. I just feel like that kind of thing would have been discussed in map chat.
and it acts as a deter ant by not letting bots hit the exact same point from a plotted map that the bots would use every 24 hours. Thought if you were gunna do that, it would have been implemented on all 4 maps. (not trying to be conspiratorial, just really annoying and I would like to know why)
No, it won’t be helping against bots. You can program bots to gather nodes on their paths, and these can be as big as you want. So the bot doesn’t give a kitten if the node is in the same place as the day before or not. T6 mat farmers, as in HUMAN players, will get harmed by this, having to search the whole map every day instead of doing a shorter circuit. But that kind of acting on Arenanet side should not surprise us any more.
Someone in Southsun reported this today, but I cannot replicate their results:
I suspect that people are either misremembering the locations, not waiting the 20+ hours for ori node reset, or they forgot that they are guesting on a different server. In particular, the reporter in Southsun claimed to have seen the ori nodes at the bottom of the Karka/champion cave, but that was where they were before the last reset.
It’s hard to imagine that ANet would change the mechanics for how Ori nodes respawn without telling us. And even if they did, why would they apply it to only two of the four relevant maps?
For reference, the wiki shows updates on April 3, 6, 10, 16, and 18. On my server, at least, some of the ori nodes were nearly the same from one update to the next, even across several of the maps.
My husband and I are also on IoJ. When the node changes in Malchor’s Leap started happening, we were extremely frustrated. It felt as though we were remapping it everyday instead of once a week. Southsun was fine until a couple of weeks ago. Last weekend, my husband had to search for the ori there three times, on three different characters, on the same morning, within an hour or two.
We only guest on other servers for CoF, which isn’t often, and then switch right back to our server afterwards, so that is definitely not the cause. We’ve been skipping Malchor’s Leap altogether, thereby losing 5 nodes per character everyday. This has to be a bug. There haven’t been any patch notes stating otherwise.
