I’d like to start by saying that I understand the point of message suppression and I am not arguing against its use. I do, however, think that it has gotten way out of hand. It was annoying when it would happen in organized Living Story instances such as the Crown Pavilion when commanders couldn’t call out instructions/percentages in mapchat, but at least there were workarounds for that.

Recently, however, my in-game mail has repeatedly been suppressed due to excessive messaging. Twice now I’ve been in a dungeon/fractals with a group of guildmates and have tried sharing potions/food with them to make an encounter easier. I sent mail to two of them… and then can’t send any more due to suppression. With most games this wouldn’t even be an issue because a simple player-to-player trading system is implemented at launch. The argument with GW2 is that the game doesn’t need one because people can simply mail items to each other instead, which is fine, but in that case, the mail system needs to actually be usable for that purpose. As it stands, it clearly is not.

If message suppression is going to be used for in-game mail then at the very least it needs to have an exception programmed in for messaging people in your own group and/or guild. Nobody is going to keep a message spammer in their group or guild for very long, so there’s simply no reason for it to be there.

Please alter the message suppression ruleset so that it does the job it’s intended to do, and not become a nuisance and hindrance to players who are trying to use a legitimate system of the game for clearly legitimate purposes.
