Guild Wars 2

I’ve been noticing that when I’m in a party if I am not in the immediate area around party members they do not show up in the correct locations on the map. Additionally, one of my party member’s map icon has been in the same position for over 3 days.

Yes! That started happening again for me and my wife on Monday, which (coincidentally) was the day they reopened the buy.guildwars2.com sales. To the best of my recollection, there may have been a few tweets encouraging players to “wait a little while and try again, the site is really busy right now.”

The most annoying thing about it is that I tell her, “I see your dot on the map, I’m just south of you. Come revive me,” and she ends up on the far southern end of the zone because I kept telling her to go south. As it turns out, that dot on my map was just the last place we saw each other before the portrait again went black and the server apparently had no idea where we were in relation to each other.

No, wait…

The MOST annoying thing about it is that when this happens, it’s nearly impossible to join each other in an instance. We’ve been playing our personal storylines together (mostly with different plots, yielding more variety), and it went really well once they shut down buy.guildwars2.com for a week and a half. This past weekend was fabulous. However, ever since Monday, we haven’t been able to party up at all. Well, with the exception of having the empty portrait displayed on the left-hand side of the screen for easy mail-addressing, and the altogether unused party chat (we’re sitting right next to each other, after all).

The WvW map did seem to work fine, however, once we finally got in. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet discovered the key to enjoying this particular aspect of the game… Whenever my character encounters a single invader, that location suddenly becomes the center of an angry swarm of murder-bees. But that’s off-topic.

If we are get out of eyesight of one another , say she goes to grab a vista I already have, her “dot” is gone. The (shift+click) to draw on the map doesn’t display either. I’ve only been playing PvE.

Actually, I just checked it again on my lunch break, and my wife and I were able to see each other on the map and even enter an instance together.

It was crazy messed up last night (between 6pm and 9 pm CDT), so I don’t know whether this is a result of last night’s updates or simply off-peak hours. I’ll know for sure tonight when I get home from work.

I had this happen yesterday. My daughter and I were playing on laptops right beside each other so we could see both screens. We were both in the same zone and NOT on the overflow.

Her location dot was showing in the wrong place on my map and mine was not showing up on hers at all. We were both standing at the same location but could not see each other.

We bought the game to play together, so it is kind of a frustration not being able to port anywhere without being separated again.

Yup happened to a group of four of us last night. This had never happened before. Couldn’t see each other most of the time and the blue dots on the map didn’t represent where the party members actually were. This was regardless of overflow or main server and regardless of the join in feature which sometimes didn’t work or even respond.

Forgot to report back on this last night, but my wife and I were able to do several personal storyline instances together yesterday. I think there may have been a time or two when her portrait went dark on my screen, but the blue dot on the map worked properly the whole time. Never once were we separated when trying to enter the same map; the game was fun again!

I also noticed that I was able to access the guild bank again, and everything seemed to work much better on the whole.

Yep, another new bug that popped in a few days ago.

Exactly what is said above. No point in forming groups within a guild right now, since it is nearly impossible to find each other on the map and stay together or get back together when split up.

Almost defeats the point of even being in a group all together. This, in my opinion, is the worst bug in the game and should haver top priority being fixed!

THe funest part of the game is grouping up with my guildies and going out together to do stuff, but this new bug makes being in a group miserable.

PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP!

Having this problem as well

Been having this problem now for some days. Its VERY aggravating. I barely been able to play with my friends due to this for the past 4-5 days.

Arenanet aware of this?
