Guild Wars 2

I play several weeks in a row and then I stop playing for months, maybe even up to a year. Then when I decide to log back in, it tells me that my password is no longer recognized. This is the only software where I actually bother to write down the password on a piece of paper which is then hidden in one of my clothing drawers in my home. I don’t do this for any other game, I don’t do this for emails or for online banking or anything else….

Why? Because the GW is the most annoying password extreme organization that I have ever had the opportunity to know….. and I have read books on computer security at the academic level (not the public library available books, if you catch my meaning)… I don’t ever need to do this for any other password…. Anyway, it becomes annoying that once the password is not recognized, I have to make a password change request.

Sending it to my email is not enough, I have to search through boxes in storage for a serial code…. luckily, I am a pack rat, I shudder to think what would have happened if I had thrown everything out. Then, when I spend a bit of time to invent a new password because it won’t accept any I have used before, I receive confirmation that it has successfully changed.

But is it over? No…. it then asks me to log back onto my email, that I just logged out after having clicked on the link to change my password, to confirm that I accept the location from where I am playing the game.

My question, why does GW2 have more security loops that we must jump through than online banking or government income tax websites? Too much security is like not enough. At least I know I will be OK for the 7 to 8 weeks in a row that I will be playing but I dread the next time I take a year or so off and log back in…. Must I really frame my password and serial code on the wall above my computer to avoid the 45 minutes to hunt for the information requested because my password is no longer valid?

Anyway, onto the game….. at least the game will have monsters I can bash at to alleviate the frustration of this.

You do realise that most RMT’s don’t buy the accounts they use, they steal them. Using all kinds of tricks to phish for your login to get in your account.

Also, this is the bugs sub forum. And from the sound of it everything you mentioned is working as intended.

If your password was no longer viable, you might want to consider that your account may have been compromised.

You can contact the CS Team and ask them to check your account.

Regardless, with that being a possibility, it is always best to change your passwords for the game and the email account associated with your Game Account.

Also, as noted above, this would be an Account Issue, rather than a Game Bug.
