Patch Messed my Instalation
the only thing I can think of is to reinstall the game.
May want to check your anti-virus program to see if it quarantined or deleted your updated Gw2.exe file. Some AV software does that as they really aren’t that good. May want to consider switching to Avast anti-virus if you are using something like AVG or Norton, etc.
There is no need to re-download the whole game again.
If you cannot locate your Gw2.exe file, you can download the Gw2setup.exe file by clicking on ‘My Account’ (up by your logout button) and then on the ‘Download Client’ area. Download this file (22mb) to your installation directory and rename it to “Gw2.exe” and then run your game from its shortcut normally. It may need to then patch the replaced Gw2.exe to the latest version (about 34mb), but your game should run without issue after that.

ya i suppose i’ll wait a bit and meanwhile may as well install the game again since there’s no point on playing right now
All you have to do is download the client, it failed to replace itself during the update. Simple as that.
Can tell you that Norton Antivirus is fine with updates. I’ve been using the 360 product for years and have never once had it interfere with or block, delete or isolate any GW2 related updates or media.
