Pre-purchased a copy of PoF few hours ago, got all other items just fine, however, the gems part of the ultimate edition did not show up on my account at all.

I assume they should have, since I already got everything else.

That must have been some pretty fine print somewhere because I don’t recall seeing it. I thought there was a note about 24 hours for all items, not something specific for gems.

Thinking about it after the fact it probably is an intentional staggered distribution… they probably expect a larger than average influx of gems bought through the ultimate edition, so to lessen the impact that will have on the economy (through the exchange) a staggered distribution makes sense.

It very likely at least is not because of technical reasons since all the other items are delivered nearly instantly after adding the key.

They have had problems in the past with people buying HoT Ultimate with stolen credit cards and such, converting gems to gold for gold sellers. When HoT Ultimate was first available we got the gems at time of purchase but due to fraud they had to put in place a waiting period.

Did you eventually get the gems? Because I got the Ultimate edition yesterday redeemed on my account and still nothing

Due to volume, it may take up to a week to receive the Gems. Usually within/at 72 hours, though.

Im assuming the same thing is happening when HoT came out 2 years ago.. here is a post that a dev said regarding this issue.
