So since the patch when I try to change my hair, it forces me to change gender before bringing up the panel with hairstyles. (I am female and I’d like to stay that way!).

Tried it out on a placeholder character and after choosing the other gender and changing the hairstyle, the gender doesn’t actually change, but the hairstyle does. This means you cant actually see what style you are choosing until after you apply changes because the preview is for the opposite gender.

Also, while browsing through the hairstyles trying to find the one i changed before, i found some new, unreleased hairstyles! Some of which unfinished.
A few completely disappeared form selection though, the one you see above and 4 more hair-kit exclusives.

Same bug here, if you have a race with a special options (ears, horns, etc.) you can get passed having to change your gender by clicking on that special option then clicking back to hair. Not a good temporary work around for human females though.

Definitely don’t want a sex change every time I go to the barber :P

That’s most likely a bug, and I would report it as such. Gender swaps are only available in complete make-over kits.

Edit: Even the permanent self-style kit has it too. Not sure if it’s a feature or a bug. I’d still report it though.

Even if you choose the male version, it doesn’t actually make a gender swap happen, it just shows you the other gender’s hairstyles.

I also wouldn’t suggest posting on the forums before trying to exploit a bug.

Why would that even be a thing though? I have specifically chosen my character/s to be female. Why would I want to preview male hairstyles?

With this functionality it’s also more difficult to just go in and start previewing. You can’t choose your own gender to go into. I was on a sylvari when I tested this out, so luckily I was able to choose the ears tab and get back into the normal female hair that way, but other races won’t be so lucky. Not sure if you’re completely screwed on those without customizeable ears or not. I shall check.

Edit: If you only have the one tab you have to click on the hair tab again (though it’s already selected) to see what is available to your race and gender.

A) Choosing a style from the opposite gender does not actually change your gender, and
B) you can work around this completely by clicking the circular “Hair Styles & Color” icon. This will allow you to use the kit as normal.

You may want to mess around with the opposite-gender options, though. For human females, selecting “male” hairstyles from columns 2 through 4 will allow you to see some new, formerly unknown styles.

Just logged in to report this. I didnt notice any new hairstyles though… I’m going to go play with my hair kit again.

I was just fumbling around to see what was gonna happen and perhaps troll my friends with a gloriously ugly male character called “Prim Vera”, but I ended up getting a… well, a super cool new hairstyle? I tried to revert back, but I couldn’t. At least I like the new one…
Now I just sit here, rather dazed, wondering if I’m gonna get banned for hacking or something like that. Daf***k did I do and how did it happen? O_O
… can I keep it? Mom anet plz?

Rest assured, the kit functionality will be returned to normal once the fix for this bug is live.

I don’t suppose we can get a statement on what exactly those new styles were, and a technical explanation of how the bug happened? Are they new styles in development? Chinese version exclusives? Seems strange there were only new ones for human and norn females, and a disproportionate number at that.

This is not a reason to disable it… I paid 2k gold and now im not able to use it because there is little bug? How long will I need to wait for fix? 1 week? 2? month? Thank you very much.

My permanent hair style contract is bugged , it shows male hairstyles when i’m on my female character , also when i click on the male hairstyles it gives me new female hairstyles ? now i can’t use it

I was hoping these go on sale in the Gem store :-\

I was playing with my perm kit, got one of the new styles, then when I tried to change back, it was disabled.

The new style is interesting, but it’s not really for me.

So I was wondering the other day, for something so insanely rare/expensive why isn’t the permanent kit a total makeover one?

Was the patch released a few minutes ago supposed to fix this problem?
The patch notes say “Fixed an issue in which Self-Style Hair Kits incorrectly allowed gender selection.” and while I can no longer pick my gender, it still says the kit is disabled.

I’m hoping that the fact it no longer shows you the gender selection means that they’re that much closer to getting them to work as intended again
