Guild Wars 2

My personal quest “The Stone Sheath” cannot be completed because the quest item you need counts as a held item, and the game forces you to drop it when you exit the water. Once you exit the water, the item disappears from the zone and the NPC following you defaults to dialogue from before you picked it up.

The easiest way to circumvent this would be to make the quest item something that goes into the inventory; it’s useless as a combat item anyway.

I am having the same problem, I have re-ran the mission several times trying different things but the result is always the same as OP.

Confirmed… even tried having someone run it with me, but it just seems the item vanishes upon leaving the water.

There is actually a way around this bug, but it should be fixed anyways for future players. If you manually drop it so that it’s underwater still, but close enough to be picked up on land, you can finish the mission.

I just thought of that and tried it myself this afternoon, and it worked. Thanks, Pony!

For everyone else, keep in mind that if you choose to exit the water early and go back by land, you still have to go to the rock near the shore in order to complete the mission; you can’t just enter into the green circle.

I just tried Ponyan’s method and I got the item out of the water but I still cannot progress.

EDIT: I ran all over the green circle on the shore line and it finally triggered the cut scene to finish the quest. Thank goodness that is done!

Yeah, that’s exactly what I did. This works.

Where you a Charr by any chance? Cause it seems to be the only race that is bugged on that quest.

I’m human and encountered the same bug. I believe it may be that Engineers are programmed to eliminate their bundle upon exiting water if their land utility skills don’t include the bundle.
