I was doing this story and had just saved the second set of researchers. Then they all “reset” to the mouth of the cave and won’t move. I cleared all mobs in the area and tried talking to all of the NPCs. They just wouldn’t leave that spot.
I’m a Sylvari Thief, the level is 62 for the quest.
