Personal Story: Forging the Pact bug (blocking progress)
Same issue, 2nd research team won’t follow.
Incredibly frustrating as I made it through the mob respawn bug which made progress extremely slow.
same
It’s really still bugged? Ok, I’m 80 and my story line is stucked at 66, unbelievable -.-
I just hit the exact same bug. Everything was going great till I rescued the second group of researchers. I went through their conversations but when I went to fight our way to the south exit, they decided to not follow me.
I tried clearing every Risen I could find in the instance but that did not help. I walked Trahearne back through each location in mission but it did not seem to help either.
So I did a /bug and i guess I will wait till ArenaNet gets a fix for it.
I’m in very bad mood.
Why you can’t properly test main story quest?
Quest still broken!
Quest is still broken.
Post #2: Quest is still bugged.. is it too much to ask to get this fixed so we can progress in our storylines?
The same thing happened to me, I spent like an hour and a half on this and it bugged out right at the end. It is my understanding that this happens if Trehearne dies at any time during the mission.. this is ridiculous.
I have the same issue – stuck in cave and the research team will not follow me thus cannot exit. Looking forward to a speedy fix on this one. Thanks
I am still experiencing this bug as well. I cannot get the second research team to follow me.
Managed to complete the quest after 5 bugged attempts by
1. Having 2 or more other people in group
2. Having them run ahead and kill all mobs in the vicinity.
The bug seems to be centered around if any NPC you are escorting has died between the ‘holdout’ section and the ‘talk to kekt’ section the game bugs and Trehearn fails to complete his script of taking the lead of the NPCs after you talk to kekt.
I am not sure if it can be resolved by just double checking that all NPCs are with you and not dead when you talk to Kekt, or if you simply need to keep everyone alive at all costs.
Hope this helps.

This quest is also bugged for me. Areanet P-L-E-A-S-E fix it ASAP. It’s extremely frustrating that I can’t complete this quest on my own.
Also bugged for me as well. Got all the way through the caves to the survivors, and get to the southern exit. Nothing happens, been wondering the caves for awhile now….Areanet, fix this!
yup bugged for me too.
first time game crashed.
second time got disconnected.
and last time i finally got in the cave, and then the npc’s didnt want to follow me.
its a pain, because this quest takes me about 25 minutes?
I am also not good in not dying, or letting other ppl die.
:(
Bugged for me… At “Escort the Researchers to the Southern Exit with Trahearne” Trahearne follows me but the other NPCs don’t. I’ve tried this multiple times now. None of the NPCs died at all. Nothing is triggering in the quest.
I tried this story quest again today and had the same problem. All the npc’s except Trahearne (who continues to follow me) remain at the second research team location in the cave and won’t follow me to the southern exit. But why am I (and the rest of you) bothering to write about it here on this forum? There’s no solution, not even an official acknowlegement here. I assume we’ve all submitted a bug report at least once in-game.
My biggest problem is the lack of in-game GMs. In another mmorpg a GM could advance you to the end of the story mission or just flag it as completed. It takes me 20-30 minutes of boring hackfest to get to the point where the quest bugs and I really can’t face doing it yet again.
Bugged for me also. Wasted way too much time retrying this quest. Like most here, once I find the researchers in the back of the cave, Trahearne is the only one who follows me. The other start to follow, and help combat the first 2 grubs, but after that they all run back to where I found them and stay there.
Please look into this!!
i’ve just tried twice and got the bug both times. ANet please do something about it, it’s quite a long quest and doing it every time just to check if it’s still bugged isn’t cool.
Still bugged… The second team don’t follow me to the southern exit.
Also having this issue. Its’ really agitating. Can’t make any progress. =/ Tried it twice, not working even after yesterday’s patch.
Level 80 Norn Engineer
Realy boring quest with this bug :/
Typical for ANET………..waist our time here again. Not sure what they did for 4 years making this game. People getting locked out, glitches…………why even release it if it’s not working.
I went to submit a glitch ticket on the support tab on the game and it won’t let me submit………..
Get is fixed please!
Bugged for me as well.
If a solution can’t be found there should be a way to get through the gate without having anyone follow you.

It is still bugged. I wasted most of a Saturday night running the quest multiple times. Same bug each time. Arrrrrgh. I just want to complete my story line.
finally got the researchers to follow me by killing everything in the room before the Savage abomination thing and before talking to kekk, then walking really slowly backwards to the south exit
This instance is still bugged. The group does not follow me even if I keep Trav alive. I get to the the end and nothing I have now tried this quest 4 times and a total of about 6 hours of messing around and reading forums trying to complete it. Frustrating! I am playing as a Vigil Ranger.
Same problem here – the researchers don’t follow me to the south exit. Tried clearing thew hole cave before ‘rescuing’ them, rescuing them first and then clearing the south area etc. etc. but still bugged.
I’m a Vigil Ranger (Asura) too
I have found a work around that was worked for me. You must clear the entire cave before going back and killing the abomination. Then walk slowly to the end killing grubs as you go. It worked for me I hope it will work for you.
I tried Kilic Bela’s workaround and it worked for me. You must clear the entire cave before going back and killing the abomination. Then walk slowly to the end killing grubs as you go. It worked for me I hope it will work for you. Nevertheless, when I started this quest it was Saturday evening and now the sun is about to rise on Sunday morning. I hope Anet fixes this.
Okay so i got this glitch too. I’ve restarted the quest 5 times now but nothing happens? ):
its was bugged for me 2 times i tryd some things and now it works. This is what is did. When going up hill to the first research team dont go past the baracade but move true the house. When contacting the vigil commander dont choose a secundaire option in while talking to him like taking the honour path. And last of all and it think this is what did it… when contacting the second research time dont choose the first dialoge option i think that one is bugged! choose the third option and follow the dialoge al the way true until you get to oke follow me then they will follow you. I hope it helps!
P.s Sorry for the bad english
Still not resolved. 2 times through and both bugged. I tried suggestions above and still no go. Tonight I will try with Guidies and see if change. 7/16/12
I am getting frustrated, really. I’ve waited over 4 days to do that freaking quest, and still it bugs any time he dies. Please fix this >_>
Signed. Not cool. Norn Guardian.
Tried and failed again .. given up until there is a permanent fix
Still Bugged. Quite disappointing really.
This is still bugged for me as well.
When will ArenaNet repair this problem ?
Bugged still… Got to second group of researchers and they won’t follow me. No dialogue to make them follow anymore and they refuse to move so I cannot finish the quest. Third try too… First time first group of researchers wouldn’t follow. 2nd time the game client shut down once I got out the other side for the battle… This sucks.
just completed this, had to do it a couple times but it worked. next quest is bugged however
Same issue, 2nd research team won’t follow.
Incredibly frustrating as I made it through the mob respawn bug which made progress extremely slow.
The second research team refuses to follow me to the southern exit twice. One time solo, second time with a friend. Both times same issue.
Wondering why this hasn’t been addressed yet…
8/9 Professions, Asura Guardian main.
so im doing the storyline quest Forging the Pact, and im almost done with it. I went and retrieved the second research team fought all the risen and now nobody wants to move… I’m kindakitten cus this mission wasn’t very easy i’ve already died a few times getting this far and now it looks like i will have to restart
as u can see in the image the group of blue dots should have followed me south, but they didn’t… I’m posting this bug not because I expect it to be fixed but because I just spent the last hour getting to this point in the mission and now i have to start over so here i am on the forums qqing about a bug, because I DONT WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN!!!!!!
same thing happened to me, stuck there for 15 mins now, guess we’re restarting…
Multiple threads have been created over the last 72 hours regarding this issue and a response has been given by Arena Net at this thread:

well same happened to me, spended 4h of life tryng do to the quest , thinking i was doing something wrong lol
Still bugged for me — just sent an in-game ticket. I’m having the same issue as GodAtHand.5124. The second group of researchers followed me until we finished the first group of mobs, then they all went back to where they started, and wouldn’t move. I get to the southern exit with Trahearne, but he’s the only one that’s with me. I suspect the agent that blew up the entrance gate is supposed to blow up the exit gate too, but she stayed back with the researchers. :/ Very frustrating.
tried it today and still bugged. Very annoyed.
