Personal Story: Forging the Pact bug (blocking progress)
Yeah, patch notes say it’s fixed but it’s not. Once you rescue the second group, Trahearne and the other rescuers stop following. Talking to them, clearing out the whole tunnels, nothing gets them to move.

traherne has to walk back to his “mission” area if a mob aggros him away from his current “mission” spot when the aggro is gone or broken he will walk back to his “mission” spot
and then you have to walk beside or behind him to move him back up to where you actually were when he broke “mission” spot to come help you.
easy fix…
took a short time to figure out but it was easy.
I also have this problem
this one stopped me cause all of them stayed to themselves and the npcs kept fighting..
i ran ahead and beat the little green worms by myself and made it to the champion black grasp thing and everyone needed to beat him showed right back up outside…
i had to keep rezzing them anyway…
so at the exit i beat what was there and went outside… and they showed back up.
Just tried this and I had the same problem, although I managed to clear all the undead out of the ‘stuck area’. The NPCs would go and fight the undead, but after that they would run back into the rock wall and refuse to move from there. Two of them were following, but the rest were ‘stuck’.
I reported this over a week ago in game. I got nothing. I guess it’s not a bug to them?
I kinda lost the motivation to play.
I have the glitch where all the npcs telaport outside and stand there doing nothing. Have done the quest like 3 times …. just so frustrating.

if you run ahead and pay attention to the talking as its going on…. its not really bugged …
just not intuitive.
leave them to die if you must…. forge ahead to the boss the ones that are supposed to show up will auto…
the little green black necro grenth reaper thing will spawn outside with lots of abominations..
just forge ahead…
but when you go back for stuck NPCs find the main guy and walk behind him… not in front. wait for talking to clear and “DONT” forge ahead.
i had DC trouble but no bugs here.
when they run back … run back as well and get behind them..
but on this mission i pushed ahead and foght the boss without them.
I reported the problem via the GW2 website ticket system and I was advised to report the bug in-game so pertinent game data can be transmitted along with the bug report.
I’m going to try this quest again and file the bug report in-game. I advise everyone to do the same, if you have not already done so. This is the only way to nail the problem so ANet can fix it.
… It is bugged one of the 3 times I did it the NPCs got stuck in a wall when they teleported. Also you can’t just leave them to die and “just forge ahead”. The quest is to escort the followers/NPCs to a point on the map. If they don’t follow you to that point it wont trigger the next part of the quest where Trahearne summons his extra “power”.
This is very frustrating, I got really far before Trahearne bugged out on me. I reported this in game but hopefully posting here will help move the issue up the support priority queue.
When I did this quest, as long as Traherne did not die in the respawning area (the clearing with 10+), the quest did not bug for me. He did die elsewhere, but a cutscene quest update happened and probably prevented the bug from happening.
Also, this may or may not work for any of you, but:
When the Agent cloaks and goes to scout, there’s a fallen wall to your immediate west that you can just jump on and follow up. Once you get to the top, you can follow the cliff south and end up on the other side of the clearing of undead. You are not 100% safe, but it is possible to clear around them if you are careful and able to avoid the patrols from the middle. You may have to kill the group with the hylek to the south before engaging the ones on the small ramp to the quest update area, and you will most likely have to pull back after leaving that update area. Once you get Trahearne out of that area, you can go protect the researchers as normal, then head into the cave. If you can make it into the cave without getting aggro from the respawning mobs, you should be home free.

I also have the same problem and submitted a bug ticket as well with screenshot.
This is a bug and Arenanet have acknowledged it in another post. I don’t have the link but the gist of the message was that they are aware of it and it is in a queue of problems to be solved. When that will happen they didn’t say.
I was just now able to complete this with my husband in my instance, however – it locked him out of the cutscenes (which every other storyline up until now we’ve been able to view eachother’s) and he did not get the option at the end to complete the mission. Trahearne DID die this time too. We had been completely bugged out of it before tonight and decided to try it one more time since the patch notes said it was fixed.
Hopefully, one last time is the charm?

Yup this was happening to me last night. The first two times Trahearne and crew went to the cave entrance and just stayed there. The third time (which was the closest I got) I got disconnected. Then I just quit out of frustration. Lemme know if it gets fixed!

My advice would be that the people who are bugged out (currently) to add each other on friends (use the forum account tag in-game) and set up to do the event as a group. I did this event with a buddy and got it the first try, but Trahaern never died for us. Run it as a group and keep him alive and you should be good.

Similiar problem, I have rescued the 2nd team, they teleported out of the cave and were all did for some reason. Southern entrance is blocked. I went out the cave and found 2nd team and Traherne, all dead, managed to get everyone alive and Traherne says: I believe I can get us out of here, all I need is your protection while I summon help.
They won’t move. no enemy around them, all alive, If I move they don’t, no enemy on the way to cave entrance, cave 90% clear and clear to the southern entrance. This is still bugged. They don’t move at all.
I have the same issue. The three Asura researchers will follow me around, but the rest of the NPCs are standing outside the first cave entrance not doing anything.

it’s very frustrating since the quest is pretty long and it bugs very late in the quest …
I have to say that I tried this 3 times already.The third time was when they announced that the story is fixed, and ofc chars bugged at the entrance to the cave, and no one wouldn’t follow me back to south exit. I tried yesterday to go in with 2 more party members, but the party wouldn’t work- again with 1 more party member-No it didn’t work!, No one got the invitation….Today I tried again with party, same zone, different zones, running together to the zone, you name it we tried it….still its just me that can enter in this bloody instance. So I have no clue how to try out this with Traehern staying alive coz to do it alone its kinda impossible, not to mention that progress with map opening is also blocked, so either take that point of interest out of this story, or fix it already, or just grant us to skip to the next one…..
Still bugged for me too. All the mobs constantly respawn, so I’m fighting groups of 4-5 enemies at a time, if (or when) I die, I go back to the beginning and more enemies are alive than when I started. And Trahearne won’t follow me. Super frustrating.

That’s what I did the first time. I never have to retry it. Seriously, just continue to play, as long as he is alive, cutscenes and other triggers will trigger. It worked that way for me, so hopefully it works for you too.
The bug stops after a cutscene. If he bugs again, I just make sure he is alive and continued without him. On the next dialogue scenes (not necessarily cutscenes), he just showed up out-of-nowhere and started helping me.
After trying that method and it still doesn’t work, then sadly, you’ll have to wait until it gets fixed. But do pray the workaround works (workaround = make sure he is alive and just continue with the mission).
I’m stuck at the escort bit. The NPCs aren’t moving. I guess it’s the same general idea. I died as did Trahearne.
I killed everything in and outside the cave but can’t finish the escort to the southern entrance because the npcs (except Trahearne) wait where the second team was.

I have the same problem…this is INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING since i have to repeat the all shazam and i don’t even know if i can finish thiskittenquest the second time.
This is one of the most bugged game in the history of bugged games (seriously a lot of time consuming bugs like this and the party bug…30 minutes to assemble a party for a dungeon and BAM everyone in a different instance. Plus 30 minutes trying to reach the same instance without success.
But i digress. Now this bug is game breaking since you cannot continue the main quest…
For me those I am going to escort simply doesn´t move at all. They stand at the same spot where you meet them, nothing happens. And ya the amount of undead is a “bit” to much.
Now I atleast know not to try this quest again before a fix is confirmed, after all it is a long quest and thekittenbug is in the end.
Bugged for me too (EU Desolation, Asura, Elementalist, Order of Whispers)
First few encounters are alright (4-5 packs of 2-3 mobs). 3 mobs spawn at first waypoint.
Then, as I walk down the ramp towards the ramp upwards, The first mobs respawn+the mobs that run up towards 2nd waypoint. “Friendly” NPCs attack nearest enemies and pull everything. Enemies seem to ignore NPCs and go for me. If Traherne dies he will go stand idle at 1st waypoint.
All enemies in the area respawn waaay to fast for me to get past to him.
If you run for the 2nd waypoint to the researchers and live – you will eventually get beaten up by 2 Veteran enemies. If you die here, you also respawn here… at half health… With 2 Veterans…
This quest is not only bugged, it is poorly designed – which to me is the worst part.
Do-over. Delete it.

Many people are “squishy” classes can’t do this quest solo which is unfair on those people who don’t have the benefit of a guild or friends.
And it’s been a few days since I put in a ticket no response which sucks.
Bugged for me (US Isle of Janthir, Asura, Warrior, Order of Whispers).
No one died because none of the team followed me, I can’t get them to follow me at all.
Still bugged, tried 3 times NPC’s don’t follow, Treherne (can’t recall spelling) follows and stands around with Caldablog up his rear end doing nothing when we get to the south gate. Completed without him or me being downed,cleared up mobs first, nothing working same result. Lots of time wasted. Ticket placed on each occasion.
I ran into this issue – the Asari got killed then wouldn’t move after he was revived. I had to quit the instance and restart. I was able to complete the quest the next time by being very careful with the pulls so that he didn’t die. It’s not a bug persay since it is possible to complete the quest – but it makes this quest very, very hard and frustrating since it is so long and you have to do the dialogue at the beginning every time.
I have had all the problems everyone else has had here. I took a holy beating. With all my armor broken, I miraculously made it to the very end of the quest. I tried to go to the southern entrance. No one followed.
Incidently, I tried this one again today at level 80 with full gear. (This is a leveI 62 storyline) I refuse to beat up my armor to find out that Its still bugged at the end, so I quit.
This is the problem with your level scaling system. When its not working = you have no options. Perhaps an on off option for the level scaling would help in impossible situations like these?
For me the worst issue I had was Trahearne decided to hang back at the entrance to the ruins (during the first and second steps of this section, ie. searching for survivors outside the cave and fighting off waves before entering cave).
Made things hard but not impossible (because the another Vigil sylvari followed me along).

Yup its done exactly the same to me. Im at the end but they just wont follow. A bit frustrating as i dont want to hit 80 on this character before putting the experience from the quest to use.
Ive been reading quite a few posts about the quest and bugs here so im sure anet are more than aware, just gotta wait and hope its done in an update soon

I’m on this mission right now and explorers just don’t want to follow me… I cleared all mobs just to find out the way i entered the cave is blocked… Kinda annoying taking into account this quest isn’t that short.
Ive just ran it for the 3rd time and it worked perfectly, managed to get to the last boss only while i was fighting him i used “steal”. guess what? im now stuck in the terrain at the side and cannot get out…i have to talk to the npc whos at the otherside of the area just staring at me. I really dont want to run this again…..
