Guild Wars 2

I was just sent from the Personal story step: “Ships of the line”, to the step “Against the corruption”. Everything I’ve read says this is a much older story step and this is some sort of bug. Because of this I can’t proceed to “Victory or Death”, which should have enabled me to go to Arah.

So now the question is, what do I do? Will I mess things up further if I continue playing? We’re talking something like ten plus missions, and if I do make it to Ships of the Line again, then what? Will I simply reset all over again?

AFAICT My next step should have been to go to Arah and complete my PS.

I see. Confusing presentation (and, obviously, story progression!) in game, but I understand the rationale.

Yeah, that’s thanks to the dumb changes made for NPE, last steps of Personal Story doesn’t make much sense anymore. Some of the chapter 8 steps were moved to chapter 7, which is why they’re now L70. The game scripts check to see which steps you’ve done, so you don’t have to duplicate steps. Normally, “Victory or Death” might be next, but you never completed “Against the Corruption” so you’ll have to complete it (and any followup steps) before it puts you on the final step. It’s a little odd to go back to L70 steps, but we didn’t want players who were already on Chapter 8 when the steps got moved around to miss any content.

While we are on the subject of story steps, do you happen to know if there has been any progress in restoring the Greatest Fear story arc that was removed for anyone who wasn’t already on it before the September patch hit?

Based on how long https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Changes-Coming-to-the-NPE/, in which there was some posts about the removed story step, hasn’t received any dev posts I would say no news about that so far.. not holding my breath in hope either…
