same bug

I managed to I get a little further in the quest by always having trahearn lead the first hit on a mob or by bringing the mob to where he is stuck as suggested before and ended up getting him up to right before the tomb room. I pressed “f” to talk to him and it just skipped the whole “finale” of the quest and went to the end dialogue scene but still was not completed. It is still asking to “escort trahearn to the Tomb”

I also tried this story many times and Trahearn would just get stuck on the stairs. I than tried an option i read in this thread let Trahearn get the first hit every time, that worked. It wasnt the prettiest, and had alot of running away from Trahearn and than back to him to get him to continue moving, especially once you are in the tomb. When he would get stuck in the tomb and running out and back to him didnt work, I would run ahead a little to get the spider to spawn and than run back to him and let him attack it first that worked everytime. An annoying amout of patience to get this quest to work is required.

Yeah, specifically let the NPCs initiate the battle that comes after the ambush. Let them start the one against the mini-boss at the cave entrance. If you wait for them to start it, Trahearn should go into the cave once it’s over.

Hopefully they’ll fix this because there’s no way players would know to do this. I did this story quest 7 times before it finally worked…really frustrating.

If I’m dead because the npcs are useless, how the kitten am I supposed to do this?

OMG. I’m so close to walking away from this game and company forever…

Asura Mesmer here. I tried this quest quite a few times when I first came to it, but I can’t manage to keep the NPCs alive during the first ambush, and when they die, only three of them are able to be revived. After that the next encounter with the the Abomination mini boss is pretty much impossible to win, even if you manage to kill the adds individually and lure the boss away. He will still go into rage mode and wreck the remaining team. Once or twice a cut scene started playing after I died in that encounter which I guess is supposed to run when you finished the ritual. I don’t want to try and waste golds in armor repair if I can’t be certain I can progress in the story.
Is the difficulty level supposed to be that high? Is it intentional that the game let’s you only revive half of your team, like some sort of a punishment for not keeping them alive in the first place?

I had the same bug this morning after the patch went live. I followed the advice in this thread and kept the NPC’s alive whilst never initiating combat and following Trahearne all the way. Everything went according to plan on the second attempt and I encountered no bugs.

Just wondering if anyone tried this after the most recent update to see if it has been fixed? Wanna make sure before i give it another shot

I’ve given this one another shot after this most recent update, to no avail. I’d advise everyone to keep checking in here for when the solution is found by Jason and the Team.

completed this mission, trahearne made me worry a few times, it still glitched slightly though, in the defend trahearne portion, i only downed one risen then it gave the defend completion and conversation, then i had to defeat the rest of the mobs to talk to trahearne to pick the next mission. I think i was supposed to defeat the mobs first before getting the conversation.

I just tried the quest again and can confirm that it is working flawlessly! Im not sure if Anet brought down the difficulty as well but I managed to keep all my comrades alive and finish the quest without dieing, except for a little damaged armor. Either that or I’ve become an expert in the quest :p

It isn’t working still, you guys need to figure out bugs with their pathing or something. The minute they die and I revive them; they stick to thekittenground and don’t do anything.

Not only does the pathing need fixed but they need to address rezing the NPCs as well.

Your guys die and you are SOL. You can’t revive them because the mobs that killed them are standing on top of them. Retry from checkpoint should really be “waste more time, get more frustrated, and get a bigger repair bill”

If this doesn’t get fixed with the next build you can always try to:
1) start mission, see 1st scene (skip it or not)
2) walk over the hill and without pulling anything get to the tomb entrance
3) RANGE pull all mobs there or whatever works for your profession (you have to kill the big guy and preferably clear everything else at the entrance without going close to it or more will spawn).
4) go back and walk near Traherne to start him walking and let him walk ahead, do all the pulls etc
5) Don’t let him die in the ambush (not sure if this affects anything he never got bugged before the tomb).
6) Let him get to the tomb and don’t walk ahead or very close to him (if more undead show up don’t let him die).

I’m having the same problems, but the one problem that is REALLY irritating me is the endless respawn of mobs that come with the elite at the door. Constantly causing the NPC’s and myself to die. I can’t even make it inside the tomb :/

Luckily enough after it bugged the first time, I found this thread.

I completed it second time by allowing traherne to pull everything, he seemed to never stop

I’m just baffled as to why the decision was made to have the Risen respawn but not the NPCs when everyone dies and you “retry from checkpoint”. Also, almost no personal story mission in this entire game has proper checkpoints, just the starting point…

I may have to storm through this one with a few friends since the NPCs are extremely dumb and stand in the red instadeath circles.

Broken and tired of wasting silver on repairs.

It seems like Trahearne bugs whenever he dies and gets ressurected, so what i did was:

1) Let Trahearne pull the 1st mob, in the meantime i went ahead and pulled every single mob up to the place where the 10 mobs spawn.
2) The warband will take care of all the mobs you pulled, so don’t worry about them. Go ahead and solo the risen abomination.
3)Go back to Trahearne, he will have ran back to where he pulled the 1st mob.
4)Take care of the 10 mobs that spawn (make sure to use buffs and knockdowns).
5)Since you killed the risen abomination and the 2 spectral guards, there’s only 4 mobs left to the tomb entrance. Kill those.
6)Once inside the tomb, repeat step 1. Let him pull the 1st mob, and run ahead to pull.
7)Now on the the last part where you have to defend Trahearne from waves of mobs. This is the most tricky since you’re on your own this time. Make good use of slows to kite, and knockdowns. It’s also nice to have a skill with you that reflects projectiles.

If everything goes well, Trahearne shouldn’t die. This way i managed to do the mission on my 5th try. I hope it will help atleast some of you guys aswell.

For added weirdness, I was able to climb the left-hand wall outside the tomb and drop down behind the door into a weird empty space of walls with no exit, pretty clearly someplace I wasn’t supposed to be able to go.

when trahearne died, this story step bugged out for me, too. i repeated it and kept trahearne alive and let him take the lead the next time around and it worked fine. don’t know if that’ll help anybody.

Same problem as everyone else in this thread – IT’S STILL BUGGED FIX NEEDED.

Same bug, but I did as Freezin suggested and let Trah… pull the first mob then I cleared and soloed the Veteran Abomb, then grabbed the rest. Trahearne did die several times but I was still able to complete the mission.

As others have noted the final cut scene will start well before you complete the monster waves.

Okay this is the buggiest quest ever. No idea how it progressed properly in end, as even the quest objectives got ticked in wrong order (one was white and still needing completion above the grey completed objectives). That’s how buggy it is. Cutscenes play at random, in middle of fights. And I’d have to say the mobs are overtuned. It’s just a crappy, buggy, overtuned quest and the guy who okayed this needs his head checked.

Taking the reward and running…should’ve got ten times this for doing the impossible. Was on my mesmer too :F

The Abom and his endless spawning mobs are bs and I’m just done trying till it’s fixed.

It appears this has been bugged for weeks now. And it is for me as well.

And while you’re fixing it make the hero npcs you give us more powerful, especially when you enter the story quests solo. They die so easily, and have the most reta.rded AI ever. They have the kind of AI I’ve only ever experienced when playing a low budget indie game. This is not a compliment.

And tone down the risen mobs, I think I can safely speak for us all when I say we’re sick of those OP mobs.

this quest is totally bugged and the npc’s didn’t help at all. you could even remove them completely from this quest because they die in 1-2 hits!!!

the risen abomination is bugged too. i accidently ran ahead and died.
next time i took the npc’s with me and now about 10 times more enemies spawned and the risen abomination was even more powerful suddenly.

T died (as usual), suddenly i should report to T.
luckily he died just near the risen abomination and there was no way to revive him because of some risen constantly respawning near the abomination.

after restarting the quest, being completely naked because of dying all the time (srsly wtf, all the other quests could even be done easily when not looking at the screen all the time or scratching my balls) T is now stuck at the entrance. no way he would move.

also i like challenge but this increase in difficulty is just insane.
the friendly npc’s AI is completely moronic. revive one one of them – he attacks the nearest mob in sight. how about reviving the others first, maybe so that they can die in 1-2 hits from the abomination again?

i see this topic is 2 weeks old and got plenty of responses. wow, how about fixing this?!

still bugged and blocking progress today.
tiresome bugs blocking progress need to be fixed before trivial fluff and indiscriminate nerfs

FTR:the difficulty is not an issue for me, simply failed npc, as per usual. hes camped outside and wont move.
i pull more mobs from outside the area repeatedly to try and reset the npcs, i let them win, i let them die, still they regroup and return to the point outside, the point where he decided to initiate a cutscene dialogue right when im still fighting the abomination.
nice touch there.

these kind of bugs are the ones that will cost this game dearly, in more ways than one

I just retried this mission, still no go..

I finished it last night, Cut scene came up in the middle of the fight at the mouth of the cave, party wiped at ambush, it worked for some reason. I couldn’t pull the abom without aggroing the endlessly respawning risen beside him.. It worked this time at any rate, 9th try – GL to you all.

The Bug
No NPC will move into the Tombs. As most write above, they just stand outside doing nothing after the group with the abomination is killed. Nothing has happened with this since the beginning of September, really? It is a story mission after all, so it is stopping me from completing my story….

1st try, endless wipe of party. I think if the warband ever survived the 1st ambush it would be alright. 2nd try, OMG! Lucky. I got through it….and the NPCs were bugged. 3rd try, dying, dying, dying and the 4 mobs at the mouth keep respawning whenever you run in or run away.

I don’t complain often but I am truly surprised that ANet is allowing this to continue. Give us an option to bypass this quest or autocomplete it going in. This is one third of all the potential ‘storyline’ and a serious game breaker, I would think for some.

Please fix this. I’ve stopped playing completely since encountering this bug.

This happened to me as well. Basically to fix them just standing around and not willing to proceed, just turn around and go kill one of the mobs in the field right behind you. That is all.

I tried all of the suggestions everyone has said, and I even changed my build a few times, used different weapon combos, etc. Still can’t beat it. I can’t even get past the Risen Abomination at the door.

You can’t kill the mobs in front of the cave? That isn’t a quest bug.

Im having the exact same bug as the op stated 20 days ago. The quest bugs out after i kill the champion/veteran that is guarding the entrance to the tomb, Trahearne and the others just stand there and will not proceed to enter the tomb. Ive tried redoing the story a couple times and it still bugs at that part.

Just got the bug aswell, he doesnt even go inside the temple and NPC’s keep disappearing withouth them dying

I had (have) the same problem as everyone else, however I found a way to use the bug to my advantage, here’s what I did..
After activating the quest I bring everone down to the ambush spot but have Trahearne stop just before it so he doesn’t spawn them.
I then advance to the Abomination, then pull them all back to the group who then aides in killing them all without spawning the ambush (not sure if this was another bug).
I then solo my way through the tunnels and clear it out.
Go back to Trahearne and spawn the ambush and watch your lvl 80 heros get pawned lol, pick off the mobs 1 by 1, then finish off the quest.

Hope this helps as I spent over 12s in repairs before getting this to work.

That did not work for me, I killed several of the mobs behind us. Sure, the gang helped out, then continued to just stand around outside the cave. What did help was restarting the mission and letting Trehearne attack everything first, not pulling anything myself, like other people have suggested. It was not that awkward that I thought it would be. The bug is still super annoying though, I would never have tried that method if I had not read about it here.

It’s been almost a month since this bug was reported and still no kittening fix?!
