Even though I’m loving the changes to the Shatterer, it’s been difficult if not impossible to actually enjoy and participate in the fight. The latency is so extreme that even using the mortars and turrets is impossible.
Everything is fine before the fight, regardless of how many players are present or what they’re doing (brawl, skill spamming, instruments, fireworks, etc). As soon as the Shatterer lands, however, ping skyrockets to between 3k-5k. Skills don’t execute for almost a full minute, waypointing in defeated state takes in excess of 90s. Because of the high latency, it’s impossible to respond to incoming effects and contribute to the fight mechanics.
Turning graphical settings all the way down has no effect. After performing a speed test and line test, can confirm there’s no problem with my connection (except for the perennial problem of being in Australia and having a higher-than-average everyday ping (350)).
Just throwing this out there, since HoT dropped there’s been a significant upshoot in ping for some players (I went from avg 220 up to avg 350 and it’s stayed that way. For the record, Gw2 is the only game I get ping this high on)
