The achievements “Peer Review” and “My Friends, the Smiths” from the “Prisoners of the Dragon” story instance are bugged and do not start.

I completed the story instance four times on four different characters, but these achievements don’t work. I can see the piece of paper for Peer Review, but I cannot interact with it. The defeated Beigarth does not even spawn.
I can see the yellow icons next to my buffs that imply that I should be able to do these achievements, but it’s impossible.

Did anyone else encounter this bug? I haven’t seen any reports on this issue.
Are there any known workarounds?
I’m stuck ._.

I have the exact same. Someone reported that it happened for them after they ran too fast away from Rytlock and he bugged out to and that bugged the whole instance for them, which happened to me too, and it stayed bugged.

It was even the same when I restarted the mission with a char that has already completed it.

I just hope that this thread get’s some attention from the devs. It’s hard to tell which of the many bugs they already have on their list of things that need a fix, since their responses to these threads are pretty scarce and random. Haven’t seen them mention this bug anywhere.

Did anyone try joining someone else’s instance to do the achievements? Maybe that’s a workaround… but I haven’t tested it yet!

i needed to do it first without the achievements. then come back and repeat it with the same charackter . only then could i see the things. maybe give it a try.

As I said above, I already tried that…

I’ve had this same issue for two days now. Switching characters or doing it multiple times doesn’t seem to work.

I’m bugged on Qualify for Peer Review too. Can’t start the achievement. First piece of log is not interactable. Please fix this.

Same. Completed Artful Dodger and Stick the Landing, without a problem. The yellow icons show up saying I qualify for the Smiths and Peer Review, but the smiths don’t spawn and the page is can’t be interacted with.

I too am having this issue, glad im not the only one, but yeah still sucks!

This isn’t a bug I think. In the beginning before following Rytlock, you have to find the shimmering book page down the stairs. That starts an event. For the Other one, as soon as Rytlock opens the first door by lighting it on fire, in that room in the very back is an npc you have to revive, and talk to. I wish you guys luck!

Bugged for me as well. The notes are not clickable the second time through and I have the icons for the achievement. Tried restarting a few times and followed Rytlock into the cave with no luck. I think I was able to click on the notes the first time I did the story.

As demonbreak said, for Peer Review, the first page of the journal is at the bottom of the stairs where Rytlock waits for you (and it doesn’t become interactive until you have talked to your team about proceeding). For the smiths, you do have to find and revive Beigarth first. It’s possible that this is indeed broken…I’ll make a note to look into it first thing on Monday when I’m back in the office.

It definitely is broken, that’s why I started this thread.

I restarted the instance several times and tried many different things.
I definitely talked to my team about proceeding, I follow them up the stairs but I still cannot interact with the Journal Page.
I also know Beigarth’s exact location, but he simply does not spawn. I follow my group, kill all the mordrem in the cave, but he is definitely not there.

Yep, the page is there. I can’t interact with it though.
The guy in the cave you’re supposed to revive doesn’t seem to be there.

The instance is bugged for me too (not counting the first playthrough without achievements available). Rytlock won’t move when I am supposed to follow him, can’t interact with the page. Tried many things; listening to the whole conversation while not moving, running to the page while conversation was going, kiting Rytlock not to trigger the conversation and then running to the page, going back to the page at the end of the instance (only time Rytlock didn’t bug out on me). Restarting chapter in story journal only helped with Rytlock not being stuck any longer, though still can’t interact with a page. There is also no one to rez in the cave, only the dead bodies of some Vigil and Priory guys.

I had a similar experience, but I managed to get around it and finish the achievements.
The achievements don’t seem to be available on any characters first playthrough of an instance, regardless of whether another character on the account has played through. I did it the first time through on my guardian and just yesterday I went back through on my ranger doing achievements. The ornithologist’s note(s) didn’t appear, and Beigarth wasn’t there until I finished the instance and re-entered.
Any other HoT (and most LS2) story steps would allow a second character’s first playthrough to open achievements.
Anyway, hope this helps.

Yeah same here, on my guardian Charr the first guy you heal isn’t even visible…thus I cannot begin this achievement. The first journal for peer review also isn’t interactive and I cannot start that one. Hope this is fixed.

Confirmed : Even tho it says you qualify, you have to have done this story instance at least once on the current character you’re in to qualify for the pages and the guy achievements

I can confirm the requirement for completing it in your CURRENT character. Please fix this for other characters so people don’t have to replay story on same character (and go unrewarded simply because of achievement) :/

When you go up the first long stairs, there you find the first smith. He will follow you till the next big company of mobs. You have to speak with him again, and tadaaa the quest will start. Sry my language mistakes good luck have fun

I’ll try that tomorrow, I completed the story with character A. Then did the story again with character B, the sheet of paper for peer review didn’t appear but the mission said I was eligible for the achievement. I’ll try again on character B, later today. Thank you.

Attempting to do the achievements kept breaking the instance for us the other day. We finished Peer Review but Rytlock and company refuses to move afterwards.

Bump for bugging out; been this way since HoT launch for myself, as I cannot complete these achievements. Page doesn’t spawn/isn’t able to be interacted with, and the first NPC to resurrect will not spawn period.

Will confirm it is still bugged. If you walk away after talking to Rytlock he will not proceed up the ramp and the story can’t progress. The paper that you interact with flashes but is not able to be interacted with.

Tested it today, I got both achievements just fine. I made sure to talk to each piece of paper in order, I’m not sure if that is what is causing it bug out for people or not. Lastly, remember you can’t see the sheet of paper unless your particular character has beaten that story already.

After the update 2015.11.04-1, the bug is still active.

The bug is still there, ive tried everything the original poster has tried and even going with a friend to see if they can do it. nothing works.

Still bugged for a friend and myself as well, same issues as everyone else, just tried multiple attempts to start the achievements.

It’s bugged for me as well, I can’t interact with the journal and there’s no Beigarth to be found

Beigarth is not in the cave and the first page for “Peer Review” can’t be activated and is only visible when I come closer (practically stand over it). I’ve already finished the campaign once so I fulfill all the prerequisites.

10 days, and its still bugged …

One thing for Peer Review. On my initial play through I was able to interact with the page but didn’t bother looking for the other pieces. Ever since it has been bugged. The smith in the cave has never spawned for me once.

I was be able to do both with the original character which I did the story for the 1st time. Not with alts.

Okay, my girlfriend and I got stuck on this for ages. The way we got it unstuck was to finish the instance on the characters we were trying it on, and then we REACTIVATED the story on those SAME characters. We had already completed it on other toons, but it seems like the prerequisite of completing it once is currently not applying to the account but individual characters. This worked for us, even though we originally had the icons saying we were eligible for both achievements.

The instance seems buggy anyway, since we had to reset multiple times when Rytlock wouldn’t proceed, and then we had a round where the ordinances weren’t activating during the tendril fight. The good news was, however, that when my girlfriend failed to make the landing in Stick the Landing, she was able to glide back over, around the seeming impenetrable wall of doom on the bridge, and climb back up to try again.

This is still bugged. I can see the page from certain angles, but cannot interact and Beigarth is simply not there.

Matthew said he would look into it first thing Monday, some 9 days ago. Hope his weeks aren’t too long.

Like a dum-dum, I explored the mountain without trying to read the pages, using them just as an indicator that I was on the right track.

I later realized I was supposed to be interacting with them. But, as you all know, I cannot -- nor can I find the smith’s body to begin that achievement.

I thought this was interesting, however, so I replayed it on the character I first used to complete the story. This, in fact, worked.

Perhaps that can help the devs -- the first character to go through the story is unaffected by whatever the bug is, but other characters on the account cannot touch the journal page or find the body.
