Well they should do a backup of wardrobe data and do a rollback at least, in order to avoid pitchforking. Not saying this issue warrants the aformentioned actions right now, but in a relatively short time, thousands of uninformed people will go mute, and even a rollback would be better than that.

From the way that its looking I’m thinking that all town and town-like areas are affected by this. I just patched up and logged into a character parked in the Black Citadel and found that I have the silence bug too.

I have this bug too. But… I can still emote. So for now, do all your communicating by typing: /emote wishes he could talk but his chat is bugged.

Chat bug, I can see chats but not respond, my emotes work.
Also my Daily and Monthly Achievements disappeared and I’m starting over.

Can’t talk either…could in Heart of the Mists when I first logged in…broke sometime after going to Divinity’s Reach. Problem continues in Frostgorge Sound…can see other people talking but based on tests around other people nobody can see me talking (self included). That or…they just didn’t feel the need to respond but that would mean about 13/13 people I ran into were inconsiderate…and that seems unlikely since 3 were good acquaintances.

As an aside…great patch…love the new features. Other than this one little calamity it went in pretty smooth too…I still call it a win :-)

Same here, hasn’t been fixed, so far it occurs on all 4 of my characters and every area I’ve been to, I can’t say anything.

Not sure that will help them code faster.

I ran into the exact same problem as soon as I visited Heart of the Mists. Note that I used the game UI to teleport there and didn’t use the asura gate in Vigil Keep. But now I seem to be permanently silenced.

They’ve acknowledged that they know of this bug and they’re working on it. I’m sure they’re working as fast as they can. This is a serious enough issue that it would immediately be bumped to high priority.

Too be fair, ConorT, this is (was) kind of a huge deal. Not being able to speak is crippling in an MMO.

Yeah, well, it’s a game and this was a huge update. Stuff happens. This bug sucked, I agree, but it’s not like ArenaNet deleted all of your characters or something.

Because no one else insulted their efforts to improve their game. In all honesty, your a fool. I thought you’d be greatful for getting a large content update free of charge :/ but no, your too busy making sly comments about them to appreciate it.

This just happened to me as well. Nothing changed, just logged on, and now I can only use Guild, Whisper, and Party chat. I cant see the others, and i cant speak in the other chats.

Any fixes?

Just started happening to me as well and so far it seems to be account wide (all characters). ALL are “silenced”. I cannot talk to people or see anyone else typing in say or map chat. I was able to however talk in private whisper and in party chat. This is a new day and I launched the game and yup the problem still exists. I tested the input by typing /wiki help and that did in fact bring me to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/?search=help so it is not an input issue. What could be causing this? Also I noticed I can not do any /me commands but I am able to do simple emotes like /cry and that shows up. It seems the only way this is fixed is by restarting the client. I just got back home and launched the game and jumped in and the issue is back however.

8 months ago this was being looked into. I know it then was fixed but the problem reappeared 3 months ago. For me it started happening around Christmas time. Please advise what steps are to be done to rectify this issue? Should I provide more details?
