Hi,
When I first got the update I could use the chat system. Suddenly now when I type and hit return, the text is not sent.. tried relogging, restart, etc. and nothing.. :-(

After I transferred all my town clothes over to tonics and the wardrobe, I cant type in chat anymore. I can still see it and read it but every time I try to type in any chat channel it doesn’t show up.

I’m also experiencing this issue. Cannot whisper anyone, or talk in any chat channel (map/say/party). For me it started before I turned any town clothes into tonics :\

Me as well. I can see chat, but not speak in it. Not /say, /map, or /whisper. I can hear /whispers, but not reply. It says “That person is not online.”

Same here. Cant talk in any of the channels and when i try to whisper it says that person is not online even though hes standing right in front of me.

Same on my end T.T Whiper says they’re offline, and chat not working

Same, can see others talking, can not talk myself in any of the chats, and wispers come back as “That person Offline”

Same issue as above. I can receive whispers and see guild chat but can not send any.

same here dont know what is causing it people asking me question and can only answer through mail

Have this issue. People sending me PMs and I can’t respond, claiming they’re offline. Can’t type anywhere else either or see Guild Chat. Can see Map/Say from others though. Relogging didn’t fix either.

I couldn’t talk in guild chat just now, but I did see people talking using /emotes …

Took them 2 minutes to move this topic from general discussion to game bugs where it’s neatly tucked away. I’m having the same issue and i’m betting they know about it based on the quick move.

Can’t do anything either. :/ Communication is completely impossible for me. I can still read everyone’s chat.

I can see guild chat, I cannot talk in guild chat.

Ditto. I also tried to party and while I can see party chat, the messages I enter aren’t displayed to me or my party members. Same with guild, map, etc.

Also unable to chat in any fashion. Have tried rebuild and everything.

Just noticed the huge txt file on my desktop also.. must have been from the patch

Also experiencing this – no in-game communication is possible.

I am having the same problem here. Chat messages don’t go through, whispering “offline” players… I can still use emotes though.

I just starting having the same issue. Can’t post chat text in WvW Eternal Battlegrounds…not even through Say.

I can’t speak in chat, however I can send mail.

I can also see chat but cannot type in it…anything I type and hit enter on just disappears.

Same here, as soon as i entered the grove it happend.

Hi im new to the game. and been playing for a week, and i have this strange issue today! I cant speak in partys or /yell? and when i try and whisper people it says this player is offline when there are clearly online and moving around? i dont understand why i cant say anything in any channels of the game please help.

Yeah seems to be bugged within the last patch, it’s annoying me too

this is my 1st patch been only playing for a week i love the game but so many changes ? all of a sudden O.O’

I’m completely muted too. There’s a thread growing in bug forumz.

Happened after I went to The Grove (megaserver enabled). Have changed characters, zones, restarted gw2, etc. Can’t find a way around this problem.

This needs to be your top priority now Anet.

I can’t speak either, I was also on the grove megaserver, idk if that triggered it though.

yes it is a tad frustrating lol , hope you guys get it fixed soon and thanks for the awesome update other then not being able to chat it is awesome!

I am having the same issue. I could talk to my guild in the first 15 minutes, but now I cannot even whisper myself since it thinks I am offline. The problem seems to be that the game thinks you are offline, ironically my messages do get suppressed when I keep trying too much. I’m guessing it is just a problem on the server side since everyone is logging in and patching. Hopefully it will be gone tomorrow.

Edit: I could talk when I logged in on Gendarran Fields on my first character. After logging in at The Grove on my third character I could not talk anymore. Hope this helps.

i got the same bug and i didn’t do the town clothes thing as most of it need to be refunded for me sadly (the only part i dislike of this)

Everything I type in any chat doesn’t show. When I try to whisper to people directly it says they’re not online right now. Anyone else is having this issue? I restarted the game three times now and nothing.

emotes and using “/me” to type your message still works but yes, this is a pretty bad bug

also when I try to whisper my party friend says: the player you’re try to whisper is not online :/

This is an issue they do know about, and they are working on a fix. There’s already a post they’ve made for this issues.

Same issues. I was in The Grove and did the wardrobe stuff and got banners from an ANET person. After that, can’t chat.

I’ve noticed a couple people mentioning the Grove is where they couldn’t talk. Same thing for me actually, I could talk for the first 15m or so but now I can’t after I entered the Grove. Some of my characters are parked there and that didn’t trigger anything but the second I used a wp from Cursed Shore to the Grove I couldn’t talk anymore.
