I’ve no idea how they latched onto my name, but I logged in to GW2 today to discover 10 mails from the idiot gold spammers.

9 of them I could delete (and report!), the 10th one proved to be problematic.

Just before I read it, I was wondering when the Gold Spammers would discover the item link deletion block.

And apparently, they did!

Because the mail has 1 bronze as an attachment, I cannot delete the mail unless I take the bronze.

This I do not wish to do, because I’m thinking it’s a high security risk.

If I take the bronze, it may be a way for them to trace my account in more detail.
At the very least, it confirms to them that Tilarta took the bronze, so spam Til more.

Is there any way I can get the mail deleted without taking the bronze?

does “return to sender” work?

Anet posted that you may take the one copper. I can’t reference it for you, as I don’t know where it is, but they did post. Obviously I don’t expect you to take my word, but look around for some similar threads. It has been answered before.

Yes, I saw the Return To Sender option.

But I haven’t used it yet.

I’m concerned that sending the mail back will “authenticate” the mail to the spammer.

I.E: someone recieved with the name Tilarta recieved the mail, read it and sent it back, therefore they exist, so let’s step up the spam mails!

I’m still confused that we can’t delete mails with items in them.

In my other mmos, regardless of whether or not the mails have stuff in them, you can delete them anyway.

Too me, you’re mail is already “authenticated” seeing that the mail was successfully sent. If it was sent to a name not in use, they would get a error message.

I have luckily only got one of these mails. First I didn’t notice the copper and figured something fishy was up. After I noticed it, i accepted it, deleted the mail and haven’t heard anything more about it.

I add my voice to that. I took a copper once but that did not increase the spam mail at all. Still get like one or two a week, like before. So no worries there.

I’ll just send the wretched mail back, I don’t need their money.
And especially not 1 bronze lol!
