My wife is from Sichuan province (where pandas come from), and back during the Festival of the Four Winds event I thought it would be a nice surprise for me to get her a panda for her characters. It took me awhile, but I finally got one, and was happy to show it to her. When she saw it she said, “That’s not a panda… it’s a pig”.

It looked like a panda to me, but as time has gone by I realize that it is just a black and white pig. I guess you all used as a pig as a model, but should have probably used a bear. Pandas are also more fluffy than the pig/panda in GW2 is, shouldn’t have snorting like animations, and they usually don’t stand around on 4 legs. They like to sit, lounge about, or lie down when they are not going somewhere.

There are plenty of images of pandas out on the internet that you can use for reference.

Can you all fix this please?

The panda model is a bear model. It’s the same (minus the head size/color/fur changes) as all the other bear mini pets I looked at, complete with the same idle movements. The pigs have a different model and different idle movements.

It still looks more like a pig than a panda.

It’s to save money using “recycled” models. There’s why also alot of the armors have the same base, but textured differently. So basically to answer your question for you… you wouldn’t see a change.

You’ll have to create a new model, texture that models, rig it, animate it, write up new code, test the code/animations, ect…. basically it’s too much to do that for every new creature they put in, hence the recycling of models since that way they don’t have to backtrack their work and concentrate on making cool stuff.

Time=money. It’s as simple as that.

It looks like a bear to me…

I’ve seen the mini piglets – they don’t look remotely similar to the panda.
