“the stone sheath” quest can’t be finished because as soon as you exit the water while holding the quest item it will disappear.

1.Start the quest “the stone sheath” (playing as charr)
2.Go under water and find the quest item (“dwarven scabbard”) and pick it up
3.Swim to the surface while holding the quest item
4.Quest item disappears, making it impossible to progress with the quest.

LE:As it is right now, I tried doing this fighting the mobs and not fighting any mobs, still the same: as soon as I reached the surface, the item disappears.

I finished this quest two days ago without issues playing as sylvari.
If it helps, I did not fight on my way to the shore, I just swam through everything.

I was playing through this as a charr as well and encountered the same problem. If I switched to my engineer kits, or left the surface of the water, the quest item would disappear. The workaround I used was to drop the item near the shore while still underwater, then get onto land, and pick it up from there. It’s a pretty janky way to complete this, so I hope they’ll be able to fix it.

Same thing happened to me as Sylvari. I did try to drop it close to shore, but the item vanished when my body bumped up against the bottom of the lake. I’ve tried three times, now.

Yeah I’m a human and have the same issue and the work around does work you just have to make sure you don’t break the surface but drop the sheath where you can stand and pick it up by the shore. Guys please fix this.

I thought I messed up the solution, but dropped it as I was breaking surface. I guess I was just quick enough. It did work for me as well.

Just a heads up: After getting the item out of the water you may need to run around inside the green circle on the shore line for a few minutes to trigger the cut scene.

Just wanted to add my voice that I’ve tried the quest about three times now on my Char, and every time the sheath disappears upon exiting the lake. I will try the work around suggested here of dropping it in the water and picking it up from shore, but I wanted to let developers know it’s still an issue affecting our personal story quests as of 9/27.
