The “Mad Memoires: Complete Edition” back-item skin doesn’t unlock the “Mad Memoires” skin, even though the previous was a progression of the latter.
I’ve also heard about people who have Eternity and got both Twilight and Sunrise unlocks, but not their respective precursors.

MMCE is not part of the progression-type items. Progression-type items all have in common using a recipe, and destroying the previous item in the progression.

This would not apply to the Mad Memories set of items. Although you needed to complete the first set of quests to enable the second set of quests, you did not need the item (Mad Memories) to attain the second item (Mad Memories CE).

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but I’m almost certain you did need the item. Also, the wiki does say “This was required to create Mad Memoires: Complete Edition.” on the “Mad Memoires” item page. And being a hoarder, I would have saved both skins, and yet I only had the “Complete Edition”.
So you needed the first skin and had to destroy it in order to create the second. Even though it wasn’t through the mystic forge, it was still item progression (both visually and gameplay-wise).
Also, fractals weren’t out yet, so I’d guess this could be treated as Anet’s first try at skin progression, before the fractal capacitor.

You did not destroy the first skin to create the second skin. If you had needed to ‘destroy’ the first skin, it would have been a recipe, just like any other progression item. I have both skins, as MMCE was on my Ranger, and the first Mad Memoires was in the bank.

I am afraid the wiki has really mis-worded the Notes, as what was needed was to complete the first set of tasks, in order to ‘unlock’ the second task. Perhaps, you transmuted over your first edition, or misplaced it. I have no idea.

Whatever may have happened, good luck on re-acquiring your Mad Memoires. =)

Welp, my bad then. I’ll look for my Mad Memoires, but I probably lost them then.

Regardless, it should still give the Mad Memoires skin because to get the complete you HAD to have received that one. Also the story at the time stated you needed it, which is why wiki states that.

As for the others, I’m not surprised, and would be an issue that would need addressed as well.

So it is a “progression” item in a way.

Plz fix it for those who upgraded all to the Mad Memoires: Complete Edition.
