If it has been priced correctly, it costs 100g to buy the “Commander” skill and one assumes that only applies to the person who actually purchases it?

By the time any guilds actually get enough funds together to be able to spare 100g for it, why will anyone actually want to buy it? By then we will all have likely found other ways to communicate or gotten used to life without it so any benefit to be gained by it will have been lost.

Make it a guild upgrade, or at least make it something that is affordable before people no longer have the need for it.

or at the very least the ability to form a WvWvW chat group.

Search the wiki. The skill is so that you can be a squad commander in wvw. Would link it but I am on my mobile.

Guilds like ours will play for so long without it that the point will be lost and we probably won’t bother with it at all. Just seems such a large price for something that should be a fundamental part of the grouping system in the first place. Especially in a game that is supposed to be all about large scale Guild combat.

Also, I recall a blog post from several months ago, where ArenaNet explained it was deliberately made very expensive to prevent there being too many wannabe-leaders in WvWvW, as that would diminish the meaning of squads altogether.

I acually think it makes sense in a way, even in a highly pvp focused game: Everyone can join WvW with no one to lead them (-.-’ noticed it quite well on my server lately where we have a large bunch of people running around doing PvE stuff and farming minerals/wood/food instead for taking part in the pvp which as a result make our server lose quite hard). However if you have a set leader (commander) you go from a unorganised mass of people waving around pitchforks and torches to something that can be more simular to a actual armed force. (That’d mean people need to listen to the Commander/let him lead etc though which dosnt always happened)

Because it will allow the person who your guild elects to get it for to act as squad leader for everyone on your server on that map. You can already use guildchat for one person to give orders, but this way I can see your squad leader, join them and be part of your efforts.
