So basically one day I noticed a strange blue above my ranger…. and have no idea what is causing it. Does anyone have any idea what would make this, I have taken all my items off and am clueless.

What do you expect as a hairy norn man? Take a jump in the lake?

But really it looks like winters presence effect without the snow.

I mentioned this in another thread on the issue, but they never responded with whether it helped fix the problem for them or not. Perhaps you would not mind trying it and letting others know if it helps or not.

ANet hasn’t really said anything on if they are working to finish fixing the problem or not.

You are not alone though. I have seen others mentioning that they still have the frost effect leftover from this issue, despite their not even having the Preserved Queen Bee item equipped any more. However, not everyone who had their Queen Bee equipped and experienced it temporarily being Winter’s Presence have this residual effect persisting even after unequipping the item.

I’m not sure if this residual effect could potentially be a problem client-side, as opposed to being server-side. As not everyone with this item has this issue, I’m leaning toward it being a client-side rendering issue.

One thing you could try is to run a repair cycle on your game to see if it can verify and correct any files to fix this residual effect from appearing on your characters.

If you need a hand running the repair cycle:

  • Close your game/launcher completely
  • Right-click your game shortcut and select ‘Properties’
  • On the ‘Shortcut’ tab, the first line says “Target:”, immediately after the end quotation mark in this field, put a space and then add -repair
It will look like this (but with your installation location):
    “F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
  • Again, make sure there is a space between the " and -repair
  • Hit OK and save this change to the shortcut properties.
  • Run the shortcut and it’ll repair the game files if any are damaged.
  • After the repair is finished, close the launcher, remove the -repair argument that you added (including the space) and save this change to the shortcut properties again.
  • Run the game as normal to see if it’s fixed.

(it is likely that the repair will dip into the ‘not responding’ state often, but it should finish properly after a few minutes or so, but a repair may take up to about 30 minutes to complete depending on your system specs)

If you do run this repair, would you please mention your trying it as I’m sure it would help the devs and other players to know if it does or does not help fix the problem.
