Random node reposition in Malchor Leap
Over time I have found that there’s three different types of node spawns. The most obvious ones, never change position except after an update, and always respawn on a fixed timer (eg one day for rich ore or Orichalcum). Another type never changes positions, even between updates, and respawns more often. The last type, which seems to comprise about 30% of all nodes, especially the trees in maps like Timberline Falls, change position every day, even without an update.
It seems to be intentional on the developers to try and mix things up. The ones that change positions will likely continue to do so until the next update.
I’m usually really sweet… but this an internet forum and you know how it has to be.

There are three reasons why nodes/saplings get repositioned:
1. New zone instance after a new build update.
2. Zone became vacant, thus “closing” the zone instance, until another player enters it to recreate the zone instance.
3. The zone mysteriously crashed, which may also disconnects or crashes players in the zone. New zone instance gets created after the crash.
Thanks for the replies.
@Hannelore – I’d like to clarify that I exactly mean the Orichalcum and Orrian Sapling nodes. Apologies as I didn’t realize that there were so many kinds.
I know about the developers trying to mix things up but what I’m reporting as a bug happens randomly. On one server and not the others and without any new build update. And always only in Malchor’s Leap and never in Cursed Shores so I believe some setting for the zone must be off.
@Geekfox –
1. I know about this one, its expected for new build updates and any server maintenance etc.
2. Agree but I’m talking about the ‘server main’ and not any overflow.
3. This is probably the case and its happening with increasing frequency. I’ve known these random resets occur from 6 months ago but I only saw them maybe once a month. Recently, its been happening more frequently.
Please get this fixed. Thanks!

!
Repositioned nodes are not limited to overflow. Even the main server’s own zone can close on itself.

OK but one case I was in I logged out one character and brought in another immediately and it was already changed. And that’s just shortly after the daily ‘reset’ where everyone is busy with gathering so it cannot be empty. Point is, I don’t think it should have randomly reset like that, as the server main, I expect some stability.
@Geekfox – Anyway, thanks for the replies and I’m not invalidating the possibilities you’ve brought up. I’ve quite a bit of experience with these 2 zones and the ‘rules’ governing said nodes. I am quite convinced something is wrong with Malchor’s Leap. I would like A-net to take a closer look.

This has been happening on Isle of Janthir every day since the update too. Some days, it happens even more than once. While this bug isn’t new to the map, its certainly been happening a lot more often than I’ve ever seen it before. Southsun Cove also has this bug and it happens as often as once every hour and its been going on since at least the living story update that took place there a few months ago. I wouldn’t think the server for that map is crashing that often so its likely tied to someone else. As someone who farms T6 nodes each day on multiple characters, I really hope they get this fixed soon for all maps affected by it.
I thought I was going crazy, I have a character parked in fields of ruin and every single day the tree nodes are in different spots.
