Tifa Ran/Ranger with a Pet
Commander WvW – Henge of Denravi
Traits: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Brutish_Seals is not working properly for some.
My guild mate is not receiving the benefits of the trait. While I get the reduction of recharge and the might boost, he does not. We compared last night and just looking at one signet – Signet of the Wild – my recharge was 48 seconds while his was still 60 seconds, plus he did not see the might boost in the description.
I’ve hit some of these compiled issues (like the 150 pet stats, some offhand range items and some pet traits not working while downed) and those should be getting addressed soon-ish.
We are working heavily on HoT and trying to get to these issues whenever time allows.
People want a working class / bug fixes before they will buy an expansion though, that I believe is a problem…

I’m not bying anything until spirits are fixed
Please return Bark Skin to its former style of kicking in on lower HP rather than at it current high level. If BS was to kick in at 50% but for 25% less damage (rather than current 33%) then it allows synergy with Most Dangerous Game and Instinctive reaction.
Also how about reviewing Whirling Defense this has potential as a great skill but needs to either provide stability or at least movement to make it useable.
poison trap and we heal as one still have their tool tip wron We heal as one if your runing resounding timbre doesnt show the swiftness and regenaration
and poison trap desplays 1 poison stack when it applies 3 per pulse
and the natural healing trait doesnt seem to work
on a side note it would be nice if bark skin afected you pet while YOUR above 90% and you while your below 25% like it used to
only my personal opinion though
currently i play owl/wolf and i see it frequently that i swap pets in fight and my pet is dead. at first i thought it is because it got bursted in that second, but that isnt true. It is most times the wolf which is dead.
I hope others can report that too, its annoying and it cost me some duels today
Please, also add to the pet section that when calling back (F3) any pet but most importantly canines they should deselect their current target.
So that if you use F3 > F2 you can force an instant shout without the pet trying to reach its target first.
Its ‘instant’ if you don’t have a target selected.
If you do then obviously the pet will perform a targeted ability if it is an offensive ability, and therefore will try to move into range.

I’ve seen reports on this, but nobody seems to be able to find a cause.
Could you play around with your build at the profession NPCs in HotM to see if you can find the trait/skill that’s causing it?
I haven’t had it occur at all, so it would take me much much longer to find the cause.
No you obviously don’t understand, the pet has its own target aquired when pressing F1 and independent of the ranger. That’s what he will run to when using offensive F2 he will not copy the ranger’s target / lack of target.
If the ranger deselect a target shared with his pet. The pet doesn’t care it keeps it until you F1 another one, and so it will move into position of its own last target on F2. Im talking about pet like drakehound or wolf. If F3 could remove the pets current target everything would work better.

Ah, I see what you mean now.
That’s a problem, added.
- Brown Bear F2 skill Shake it Off first moves in range of the target rather than activating at its current position.
(Red Moa F2 skill Furious Screech is an example of how it should act.)
Please add this to the pet section.
The Bear acts like its F2 is an offensive skill and tries to get in range of the enemy before using it. It should act like the Red Moa and Blue Moa and simply use it where it’s standing, target or not.

I’m not sure how important this is to other people, or if it qualifies as a bug, but many ranger pet icons clip through the pet UI. It looks pretty silly to have my poor pets’ noses hidden underneath the f4 petswap button. Among the worst offenders are the juvenile river drake, the blue moa, the wolf, the eagle, the hawk, and the shark.
I explained as clearly as I could lol
Thanks

This bug in particular should be a high priority since dodge is needed on dungeons, world bosses & pvp.
As for the remaining items it is very concerning to hear HoT is taking priority over a broken class. I will wait till next patch and see what of it fixes rangers before I unleash my anger and disappointment across the internet.
Up
Nature Vengeance first stick is not applied, it applies a boon 3sec after a spirit is summoned.
Sun Spirit active and passive scale with ranger’s condi damage but no other spirits.
Call Lightning doesn’t have longer duration with moment of clarity nor will it proc attack of opportunity.

Out of a huge list of ranger bugs you’ve selected three minor issues to complete ‘soon-ish’…
I guess balancing the class to be par with the others is not very high on that list then? Rangers lack condition removal, team support, not to mention nearly every single skill is outclassed by nearly all other professions.

Added, thanks.
Also added a note about remorseless and evasion runes.
To keep things right, I’ll post bugs that I don’t really want fixed :P
1.) If your one pet dies, and you swap it (Gaining a large CD on your dead pet), if an enemy Mesmer turns you into a Moa, it applies the same effect as the tonic-cooldown-reset bug, and resets the switch cooldown.
2.) If you use Hornet Sting, and weapon swap at the last second before the backwards leap, you can then quickly weapon swap back and instantly use Monarch’s Leap (As weapon swaps work as partial stun breaks, this might actually be a feature)

thank you so much for let us know. i saw you are focused in the Engineer Bugs, as i pointed out before maybe you need some help to handle this two classes.

I would like to thank the team for addressing so many ranger bugs this patch. I haven’t tested them all… but Healing Spring is still broken – still no longer healing pets.
well they’ve been addressed alright after the patch today 7/28 my mains a ranger and………all my toons had all their skills and specializations reset with the patch had them all unlocked and no hero points back to get them back???? can’t play this way this needs fixed ASAP this is just ridiculous!!!!!!
Offhand training baseline ow yeah
Well done Anet
ha! I didn’t notice that. How absurd
(edited by Zaith.9132)
wow. so many weeks and patches and healingspring still doesnt heal pet nor allies.
Something new to add to the list since 7/28 patch posted by kiwituatara in the Ranger sub-forum.
[Throw Torch] cooldown is not affected by [Ambidexterity] trait. Both traited and untraited have the same 15s cooldown.
It was not stated in the patch notes, but the Longbow skill cd’s are now fixed!
That’s exciting Lord Snow, thanks!
Natural Healing now shows the green floating numbers when it heals every second THANK YOU SO MUCH! easy verification that the first part of the trait works!
however, the SECOND part of the trait doesn’t seem to do anything… does the 450 healing power only affect the F2 healing? or is it supposed to affect the healing from Natural Healing and Signet of the Wild as well? (the pet healing power currently does NOT affect the healing from Natural Healing nor from Signet of the Wild)

Hi all,
I would like to point out that “Lingering Magic” trait doesn’t work at all. Its effects never are applied.
Kind regards.
- Pet f2 ability sometimes run up to nearest/previous target to execute the ability even if no target is selected.
That is because pet F2 is also an ‘attack’ command and it shouldn’t be! I’ve made countless posts about this and it’s still overlooked because people claim it’s “working as intended”.
I would argue that the ‘Attack my Target’ command should be the ONLY skill used to send your pet in to attack regardless of wether it is on Guard or Avoid Combat mode.
Please remove the attack command from F2 on pets! I’m fed up of having to micro-manage my pet’s movements because using F2 sends it in to attack and I want it standing at my side so it doesn’t die.

Lingering Magic is working for me.
For example:
When I have Nature Magic as a specialization and, therefore, inherit Lingering Magic, my buffs/boons from CotW go from 15s to 18s in the tool tip and when executing CotW, WH5.
What buffs are you not seeing increase by 20%?
Windborne Notes Regeneration “Duration” BUGGED
With Windborne Notes traited, it says that it’s giving 12s of Regeneration to CotW (note: it’s getting 2s from Lingering Magic). CotW’s tool tip says “Regen 12s”; however, when you press CotW via WH5, you only get 5s of Regeneration whether you’re in combat or out of combat.
However…
If you have Clarion Bond traited and CotW procs on combat pet swap, then you DO get the full 12s of Regen.
Conclusion: Anet didn’t test WH5’s CotW with Windborne Notes traited to see if it actually trigged the full duration of Regen it’s supposed to.
Please add this to the list of bugs.
Thank you.
/sigh
the hotfix broke Natural Healing again… no more floaty green numbers. no more pet health going up at all in a fight….
Thanks all!
Changes so far.
Marked ‘fixed’:
New bugs:
I’ve marked the ‘fixed’ things strikethrough for now, in a week or so I’ll remove them unless I get reports that warrant their re-instatement.
P.S. The current count is 36. How this is acceptable more than a month after specializations landed, I have no idea.
(edited by Taverius.8645)
Precision still does not affect pets crit chance and they have lower crit chance than they should with any particular amount of precision, using the standard 21 per % as for players.
Stalkers Strike still has no OH Training applied to it.
Ambidex bonus loss on non-loading-screen teleport
Nope, still bugged. Lost the stats while PvPing.
Considering Throw Torch cooldown is also bugged, the trait actually got worse.
Thanks all!

Marked ‘fixed’:
- Pet base stats
- Ambidex bonus loss on non-loading-screen teleport
- LoyF duration
- BM Pet traits in downed state
- We Heal As One/SotP traited tooltips
- Nature’s vengeance passive chance
- LB skill full cooldown on cancel
New bugs:
- Natural healing now worse and does absolutely nothing
- Ambidex not affecting throw torch
- Windborne notes applying 1/3 duration regen on actual horn skill

Hi, i see natural healing working on my pets in PvE.
However stalker’s stride still not affected by Offhand Training became baseline. Still 250 units.
If it’s possible, could you post this fix to correct Natural Healing in the main post? I found this out and posted it on the Ranger sub-forum and thought it would be of help here. Note that the fix is permanent once you do it, so no worries about having to redo these steps every time a player logs onto the game.
- Remove then reassign Beastmastery as a specialization.
- Assign [Natural Healing] trait.
- Enter combat and then swap pets.
This seems to help out Rangers that have issues with Natural Healing not working and it might have to do with Rangers that were affected by the trait bug of the initial 7/28 patch.
Cheers!

Its only permanent for as long as you have Natural Healing specced.
I did as you said, then specced out, attacked and left combat, specced back in and NH was back to not working until the pet was swapped.
Ah, didn’t test it that far. Either way, it’s a decent workaround for those that use it until it is corrected.

Does it also work on your pet? Because, as far as I know, the buffs must be increased by 50% on pet and it is not the case.

OK… So I just did the same test with CotW without Lingering Magic traited and with it traited, but this time I observed my pet’s buffs…
Without Lingering Magic traited, my pet got 15s buffs from CotW (same as me).
With Lingering Magic traited, my pet got 21s buffs from CotW. (I got 18s.)
So, yes, Lingering Magic is working on my pet too for about 50% additional duration to the original buff time he got.
I hope this helps.
(edited by Krypto.2069)
Also another test is the duration of the might from the stalker, should be increased 50%
The trait Expertise Training does not work, does not change the damage neither the duration of the pet conditions.
The trait Expertise Training does not work, does not change the damage neither the duration of the pet conditions.
When you get around to fixing that, please change the value 300 to 700. Currently it’s useless.
Pretty sure the F2 taunt trait is not supposed to be unblockable / unevadable. At the moment it goes through pretty much anything.
I suppose it’s a bug that all pets have base 0 Condition Damage and 0 Healing Power.
Some pets cause conditions and some pets cause healing. So maybe all pets should start with 500 Condition Damage and 500 Healing Power. You can then trait them further to have 800 Condition damage with Expertise Training ( +300 ) and 950 Healing Power with Natural Healing ( +450 ).
The trait Expertise Training does not work, does not change the damage neither the duration of the pet conditions.
Tested it with the Lynx – works here?
